What's your favorite thing to do?

Me? Right now? ... Teaching!

Recently a very classy and discerning neighbor of decades sold her house, and didn't want to move massive decades of perfectly good (often really-nice) accumulated, but long-unused, stuff.

I love the antique floor lamp with a custom-commissioned luxurious rich ruby-colored silk shade.
She gave me her collection of high end cameras/lenses that she's replaced with newer/better/nicer gear.

It's all Canon and Nikon single lens reflex gear.

Having better gear (like hers) I'm giving to friends and neighbors who have only "smart"phones.
One condition: I get to teach their family about photography, including and especially their youngins.
It's a smashing success, and very gratifying.
They get free stuff and I get to feed my evil narcissism.

I LOOOOOVE teaching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, nowadays, what's your favorite thing to do? ..... Whatever it is.

That’s wonderful Kenny. You’re doing so much good and I can completely understand how gratifying it is


For me it is cycling

I absolutely love cycling with my dh by the shore
Huge release of endorphins

Cycling provides me with a sense of freedom and connection to the community and nature

And the physical activity feels great and I love reaching goals we set. I am very goal oriented

Cycling feels like flying but we’re in control

I have more than one if that's okay. So for me, it's the fact that I can have adult conversations with my adult daughter and talk about anything, laugh and make jokes and disagree at times, but never fight. Or it's volunteering for the rescue who let me adopt my pup. Or seeing friends when it takes an effort to do so. So I guess, family, pets, friends.

Volunteering, even though at times it could be very frustrating when I am being pulled in different directions due to being involved in more than one roles.

However, it is very satisfying knowing I am giving something back to the communities and to help those in need. I am living up to our service charity's motto which is 'We Serve'.

The other is learning to play the clarinet. Even though I do not practice regularly if at all, I am getting better at it and it shows when I go back to play the Grade 3 pieces that I learnt 2 to 3 years ago.

Then it is out and about with my dog in my custom-converted motorhome/RV that I designed myself. Only one design feature out of a very long list of my design specifications could not be realised which is a flyscreen for the main living compartment due to not being able to find a compatible kit. However, it is only a niggle and an electronic fly squatter is very useful gadget!

I’m a super lucky guy. For the past 25 years one of my favorite things to do is take pics of diamonds and write about them.
If you love what you do, you never work.
This love led to the ability to pursue my first real passion- music.
The pedal steel guitar.
It’s a very “deep “ instrument. You can get lost in there
Then it all got interrupted

For me it is cycling

We share this one Missy. There’s nothing like the feeling of the wind in what’s left of my hair ( through a helmet of course)
I’ve always loved riding to 47th street for work. It’s about 12 miles.
During the pandemic I got an e-bike.
Totally made riding to work possible on a daily basis.
I pedal the whole way - the motor makes it feel like I’m the strongest rider in the world
But…. there’s risk.
I’ve fallen off bikes more times than I could count.
Falling off when you’re in your 40’s is way different than falling when you’re almost 70.
Which I did last month.
But I’ll probably get back on once my hand heals.
The risk of leaving this earth having NOT ridden as much as possible might be greater than the risk of falling off yet again.

I broke my tibia and fibula when my cycling shoe couldn't declip from the pedals and we got a flat on our tandem. Down we went and my left foot went one way the pedal the other..ouch. And while I had to be NWB for 4 months and only partial for another 4 I got back on our tandem as soon as my surgeon gave me the go ahead. 8 months after my Pilon fracture we were back on our tandem. Albeit with a left leg full of metal

Cycling for me is critical and I love every single moment. Even the moments where we are getting soaked...this spring weather blows. Cycling is bliss and I am not giving it up...until I am dead

I'm a writer, and was a professional editor for many great years. Didn't make a lot of money, but loved my work.

I love writing poetry. I've had a few minor things published, but the reward is the words for me. Someday I might share words again.

And I love reading cookbooks. The more stories and pictures, the more fun. Everyone who knows me is surprised by that, I'm not a great cook and I hate to bake.
