What's the best way to go about selling this ring?

Hello all -

I have a 2.09 F VS2 ex/ex cushion cut GIA certified stone in a platinum Hearts on Fire Setting with 0.6 tcw round sidestones. Any recommendations on the best approach to getting the most back if I sell or trade this? My local shop said consignment was the best way, because it was so unique. Should I find an independent appraiser initially? Thanks. Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this. I'm located in Baltimore, MD.

For a diamond of that size and quality, I'd recommend get all of the data that you would want when buying over the Internet:
updated GIA or AGS report
ASET image
appraisal from one of the big names who is well-known on Pricescope
Then either Erica or Grace can take care of the consignment sale with all of her photos and movies plus all the official lab report and appraiser's ASET images. And if you don't need fast cash, I would say sit on that ring until you get your price. There are people on here who advise that a seller can only get 40%-50% of what they paid. Large well-cut diamonds are not getting any less expensive or any more common. Don't give it away at a firesale price.

There have been people here who've consigned a diamond, then also posted a LoupeTroop and Preloved ad here, with pictures, saying the stone is consigned with Leon or wherever. Also consider separating the setting and stone and selling each separately, or setting the stone in a plain white gold solitaire. There are people who buy expensive settings for either colored gems or sims.
