Hi everyone!
I was wondering what the best way to clean a micropave halo Ering would be? I usually clean it once a week with warm water and mild dishwashing detergent (ivory). I know ultra sonic cleaners are a big no-no for micro pave. But how do I ensure that my ring will keep it''s sparkle? I try to take my ring off whenenver i use lotion and do house chores. But I know overtime, dirt will still accumulate and get stuck. If I bring it to the jewelers to get a professional cleaning every couple of months (with the strong steam blaster they use), will this be safe or will it loosen my stones?

Thanks for the help!

If it''s a platinum setting, you can use hot water with a bit of amonia. If it''s WG, hot water and Mr. Cean works well.

And cleaning it more often will also help. Remember, a clean diamond is a happy diamond!

I clean mine every day.

What about something like the JewelJet steamer? You''re not using vibration with this gadget, but then again I''ve never used a JewelJet so I''m not sure if the steam would be strong enough to loosen the micropave setting either. Maybe check out threads on the JewelJet?

bob hoskins at whiteflash recommends cleaning your diamonds in a bath of warm water with a bit of dawn dishwashing detergent. he says dawn works best b/c it cuts grease, etc. he advised against the ultrasonic home devices and says the dawn bath is really fine.

i''ll be cleaning my rings this way. and i do recall the ammonia in water recipe too. i don''t think it''s too complicated, cleaning rings. my own problem will be resisting the urge to take it off whenever i apply hand lotion which i do about 1,000 times a day...i just can''t take it off and risk walking away with it on some bathroom counter somewhere. i can be a bit absentminded at times.

My nephew worked at a upper end jewelry store and he cleans his wife''s wg ering with 1/2 windex and 1/2 purified water that he boils in the microwave so I decided to try it. She only lets him clean it about once a month so he does it a few times scrubbing it with an old tooth brush in between soakings. I do the same for my jewelry and it works as well if not better than my US. I also boil some water to drop the jewelry in after it''s soaked in the cleaning solution. It really makes it sparkle and shine. I think this method would be much safer for pave settings than the US or steam cleaner.

I have a Ritani Endless Love halo / micropave ring. When I got it, Bill Pearlman (from whom I purchased the setting as it was an upgrade setting) said that it was perfectly safe to clean it in an ultrasonic cleaner, so I quickly purchased the Sharper Image US cleaner and have been using it regularly ever since. I''ve had the setting (and cleaner) for well over a year now and no problems to-date.

i heard this too. well made pave should do fine in an ultrasonic. But the experts do not always agree, i believe Leon Mege recommends against it too. If it were me, I''d probably clean it once a week in the ultrasonic and the rest of the time toothbrush clean it, but I just couldn''t stand it not being super, super ultrasonic clean.

Thanks for all the input guys!
Yeah, I had brought my ring to an appraiser and he had told me that my ring was made very well and he can tell it was hand made and of great quality. He said I can use an ultra sonic cleaner since the craftmanship was so good. But then my fiance called Mark from ERD to double check on the cleaning method (since my fiance got the ring from him), mark suggested not to use the ultra sonic cleaner. So since he said not to use it...I''m afraid to use it.

I just don''t know how to clean the grime stuck in the pave areas because some nooks are hard to get in even with a toothbrush!

I''ve had 2 jewelers tell me the same thing. That good quality pave is fine to clean in the US and that the US will only make stones pop out if they are already loose. But who really knows. I use my US weekly and scrub with dish detergent, hot water, and a soft toothbrush daily.

I have a platinum micropave ring with a halo. I just got the JewelJet yesterday. It is AMAZING. So easy to use and I asked Quest about it, they said it was perfectly safe. I soaked my rings in a Simple Green/water solution while the JewelJet was heating up and then I steamed both sides of the ring and I cannot believe how clean and sprakly is became. It looks just like when I picked it up from the store. I am completely addicted now and of course had to do it this morning before leaving for work. Good as new!

Quest also told me a well made micropave ring will hold up in an ultrasonic but I felt safer with a steamer. I got it refurbished on Ebay.
