What would you like for Christmas?

Great topic! I would like lots and lots of cuddly animals. I rather like them. However, my husband says we will be overrun and I have enough. It's the result of growing up in a pet-hating household, you see. They're my substitutes!

I've regained 10 of the 20kg I lost last year, so I've asked the hubs to get me a personal trainer instead of presents for Christmas, our anniversary, Valentines Day and my 30th...

I worked with a wonderful trainer last year but she is finishing her Masters this year so won't be able to train me. She has recommended someone so I'll be meeting him tomorrow to find out if we'd be compatible. I'm hoping he will be open to hearing what I want from training - I love weights (heavy weights, low reps - no 5lb pink Barbie dumbells please), I love having strong legs so I don't want to hear that my thighs are a "problem area" (WTF? I like my thighs, damnit), I don't want to do steady state cardio, running bores me to tears, I hate jumping around like a lunatic and have some social anxiety issues that sometimes make things difficult for me, so I'd prefer to train reaaaaally early in the morning before anyone else gets to the gym.

Not asking for much am I?

So this ...

... isn't for you?

Have you seen http://gokaleo.com/ ?

LOL! Absolutely not! I'm African - I'd eat steak for breakfast if I could! Why is that woman so happy? What's in that salad?? Someone needs to take a closer look at those leaves!

Will check out that link, thanks!

Nope. That's what my personal trainer does. I dead lifted 205 pounds last week. :o I no longer run for 2 hours, spinning my wheels. Steady state cardio is not the most effective method of weight loss. Although, diet is 90% of it. There lies my problem. Also, the beer around here doesn't just drink itself...

205lbs! That is impressive! I can't even lift half of that... Yet! I have strong legs though - I leg press 400lbs.

The trainers I've worked with generally want me to run for hours and play with 5lb weights. I hate running and doing it for hours at a time doesn't make me like it any better. I'm with you on the steady state cardio, yet trainers still recommend it??

Oh, diet, schmiet. I fully believe that drinking orange juice with my chocolate equals a balanced meal!

Look into Crossfit.

I would love to gt a pendant to match my "Diana/Kate" ring I FINALLY got for my 30th anny. However, we just got a new patio, driveway and landscaping in the front yard. So I found a gorgeous shirt from the Sundance catalog and told him to get it for me.
I SO SICK of doing things for the house, when I tally up what we've spent in the last year, I get dizzy {and resentful} :errrr:

I've been wanting an AVC or an EC since I joined PS two years ago. I got a little EC in 2012. I'm still waiting for an AVC. I may be able to get one this year for Christmas, or possibly for my birthday in February.

Awww Lara, you're sweet ::) I've met so many wonderful people thanks to PS! And Hangout really embodies that sense of community so it's easy to feel "safe" sharing!
'Course the flip side is that I have to remind myself that it's a public forum... fortunately I'm not important enough to merit unwanted attention!

Thank you missy. You're right, time is precious, and it really does fly if you aren't paying attention! There's been a lot of turnover this year and a big part of the mania is the inevitable internal re-org and settling into a new role with more responsibilities... stressful, but preferable to the alternative! Hopefully things will calm down and I'll figure out where to draw those lines.

I will be thinking of you and your DH and wishing you both a very healthy holiday ::)

Ginger - oh, formal dangly earrings would be perfect for a formal NYE party in Times Square

Yssie - you're so right. I'm torn between wanting them for the party, and having something super special to open on the big day. I think maybe I should try to visit Adam before the 31st.

I have spent plenty on colored stone and an OEC 5 stone that is currently being made, so I am good on material items. What I would love for Christmas is happening (yay!), my husband is coming back from Korea to visit the girls and I for two weeks. My only other wish is that I am able keep busy so that time passes quickly between Jan 1st and March 1st, when the girls and I move over to Korea, and our whole family is under the same roof for the first time in over a year.

I would like a 2ct diamond. Unfortunately, DH is bling-averse but there is always post Xmas bonus funds...

My biggest wish for the whole holiday season is that my dad is healthy enough to enjoy his granddaughters at family get-togethers. He's having chemo treatments right now and I haven't seen him for a couple of weeks but I know he is tired and sick. My mom and dad have kind of gone overboard with gifts the past few years and in all honesty it's kind of a chore opening all those packages and cleaning up after and then hauling stuff home. That sounds AWFUL, but what I mean is I'd rather just sit around the dining room table and play games and chat and watch the kids play. Memories mean more to me than opening a bunch of stuff. I am well aware of how privileged we are, and of course I have asked my parents can we not worry about gifts anymore except for the little ones, but my dad is stubborn and if it makes him happy to see everyone receiving presents, who am I to take that away from him and my mother?

Of course it is nice to receive actual things, so if I had to make a little list, I'd ask for a gift certificate to one of my favorite local greenhouses with which to buy plants. Probably some new gardening tools. A ton of Ball jars in different sizes for canning next year. And since this is PS, any piece from the Olive Leaf line by Paloma Picasso for Tiffany.

This cuff is absolutely stunning, and I would have no problem wearing it for the rest of my life, but I think $11,500 is a bit much for a holiday gift:

The pendant is equally amazing and likely closer within reach:

We do a KK (Kris Kindle) on both sides of the family; so we each give a gift and receive one. I'd like a pair of sunglasses; good protective ones for the eyes but ones that also suit me (I'm hope at knowing which glasses suit). A few years ago we were holidaying over in West Australia, where my brother-in-law and family live. While we were admiring wild flowers, a grass seed flew into my eye the effects of which I'm still feeling today. Ever since this happened I've become a firm believer in protective eye wear. Lots of present giving is a pain but the giving and receiving of something, that you wouldn't necessarily make a priority of getting otherwise, can be rather nice.

Link please! :naughty: I've been on a crazy shopping binge that must stop, gack. At least there have been some items that didn't work out.

As for the original ? -- my Christmas boots came today in the mail & I love them (black equestrian, sized for fat calves). We're also having a professional portrait done of our elderly pooch. DH already got his present back in August (a drone + go pro camera set up.)

Fun to hear everyone's lists ...

Hm...I would like a new laptop, since mine is very old and hardly works anymore. There are some amazing models out there, but they're all very expensive, so I'll probably only be able to afford something very small and cheap for now.

I'd like a nice violin by an up and coming violin maker, and a gorgeous painting by a local artist I've had my eye on, and I'd like to set my mahenge spinel in a big thick yellow gold ring, but I don't think I'll actually get any of that!

Oh! Are you a violinist? I absolutely love Janine Jansen, have been listening to her since I first discovered her 17 months ago on the t.v. in the hospital when my daughter was born. My husband bought me one of her CD's and now the baby goes to sleep to it at night! My grandmother was a concert pianist and violinist. I am a pianist who is currently piano-less. Kenny has me lusting after a Charles Walter piano. I'll add that to my list! :naughty:

I am sorry to hear of your father's health issues, Monach. I hope he is well for this season.
And I absolutely love the cuff you linked! :)

This thread is giving me ideas..... :Up_to_something:

My Christmas wish is that the day passes without anyone, outside members, noticing.
Goodness knows there must be 364 other religions which have invented their "magic" day.

Seems not very respectful of diversity, and violation of PS rules, to pay so much attention to just one.

People vary. We should be free to express our love for a holiday as much as anyone else. Others are welcome to start their own threads. It's against PS rules to discuss religion. We are not discussing the birth of Christ we are making a wishlist. Come on Kenny.

I don't have much of a wishlist this year. I'd like to get my truck fixed, and possibly trade to a car/suv. I'd really like to be there when my best friend has her twin girls. I'd like to get at least the wall done to our Bathroom. I'd like to spend countless hours reading in front of our open fire.

Not much, really, other than a cat tree, a fleece throw blanket or two, and a few new books. I know I'm getting clothes from my mom (I always do). We have a tradition. We go shopping together, I try a few things on and then put them back. She returns a few days later and buys the items. Win-win. She buys clothes she knows I like and I know they fit.

I would like to keep my job for Christmas..there is a possibility that I will be laid off by Christmas :(sad

Hanukkah is super early this year. Anyhow DH and I are going to forgo presents. Instead we are taking the kids to the alps to go skiing once we move to Europe. It is so crazy we will be out of here in just a few weeks. So because of the huge move we are just keeping it low key. For the kids their gifts are pretty much going to be heavy duty winter clothes/ jackets, a bunch of stuff to do on the plane etc. I'm usually more about the gift of experience or family vacations over something material.

rosetta...depends on how much your willing to spend on me... :praise:

I hope it all works out and your worry comes to little or nothing. ::)

I play, but I've just started so I wouldn't call myself a violinist yet. ;)
I hope you get a piano soon, maybe get a cheapy so your daughter can bang on the keys.

Diamondrnglover, I hope you can keep your job! What a crappy thing to happen.

A pretty scarf. I'm thinking gray, camel, or a deep blue or red. I want to spend $$ on getting a nice one, but can't decide which color.

Q

On the practical side, I'm thinking of asking mom for one of those Gel manacure kits. There pricey but I think they are cool and I'm too frugal to buy for myself. (says the one who bough the Cartier :naughty: ). Otherwise, I'm thinking GCs to some local quilt shops. Not much else, honestly.

Now for a real WISH list:
  • Item #1: new diamond studs, slightly larger than I have but MUCH higher in quality. I want them bezzeled and I'd like jackets to go with.
Item #2: diamond huggies, but they need to be really LIGHT as in I barely feel them. I can't stand heavy earrings.
Item #3: A new watch, but am having a hard time finding one I like. I like the 2 tone, but different than the one I have now.
Item #4: I'm with Gypsy, I want to win the lotto ;) :wink2:

Good time with my family.

We will enjoy being with family, of course (for the most part ;)) ). But as far as gifts go, I am debating between watch and DBTY bracelet. I have spent too much already this year on jewelry, so I am try to not overdo for Christmas.
