What would you like for Christmas?

Well, I have ten mins for a coffee so I thought I'd start a thread when most of you are still asleep!

So, what would you like to receive for Christmas?

It can be an outrageously expensive bling gift, or a more realistic one.

Or it could be just being with your family. Or it could be nothing at all.

What's your Christmas wish this year?

My Christmas wish is that the day passes without anyone, outside members, noticing.
Goodness knows there must be 364 other religions which have invented their "magic" day.

Seems not very respectful of diversity, and violation of PS rules, to pay so much attention to just one.

I would like to have my DH to myself for a week!
We've both been incredibly busy lately and I'm really looking forward to turning the phones and laptops off.

I really want a presto pot to melt my candle wax. It would make life so much easier than my current system!

DH and I are paying off my Student Loans for Christmas.

Oh, and we are most likely going to *FINALLY* enter the world of smartphones.

For the holiday season I want my family to be healthy and happy and I just want to spend most of the holidays with my dh in peace. It's been a crazy year (like the previous few sigh) and I am longing for peace. Peace from stress, worry and drama and it would be so lovely just to spend the majority of the holidays quietly with my dh doing the things we love to do.

A female pit bull from a rescue that I've been looking at for a while now. I don't see it happening tho.

awww, packrat, that would be an awesome holiday addition to your family! I hope it works out for all of you...that would be one lucky pitbull for sure! :appl:

Isn't she darling? http://pitrescue.weebly.com/bronze.html

We had a red/red nose for years..she was 12 when she passed in 2008. She was brilliant..and evil in a funny way, and she had three legs. For whatever reason I've been missing her more and more lately.

She is a real sweetie!
It's like she was meant to be part of your family.

I know I'm slightly (I guess some might say more than slightly lol) nuts when it comes to matters like this but I would take it as a sign that you have been missing your beloved pitbull more and more lately. Maybe she is trying to tell you something like adopt this sweet girl?

Honestly I'm the type of person who typically buys my own gifts so I Love Love Love surprises! The best gift I have received in years was a cactus from my Husband. It's the same cactus my mother has had for 20 years and it always blooms around the time of my birthday. Other than that I really just love to see everyone and have a good time. A nice bottle of wine is always a good idea too!

i would like a lovely and expensive jewellery gift - say, 2 ctw upgradeable studs (or voucher for same lol) - but I suspect I'll be getting about 60 bucks worth of cooking books. *sigh*

::HUGS:: missy!!

I haven't been on PS much lately so I think I've missed a lot of what's going on, but I do recall your husband's biopsy in September and his dermatologist's recommendation. I hope the removal well and that he has recovered! I'll be crossing my fingers for peace from stress, worry, and drama... a holiday spent quietly doing the things you love to do with your DH sounds heavenly.

DH and I spent a year on opposite sides of the country finishing school. He'd fly out to visit once every couple of months and I loved and hated those visits - I couldn't wait to see him, but as soon as he arrived the clock started ticking on when he'd have to leave... our jobs have been absolutely crazy the past few months and when we're not working there are a dozen other things that need doing, and the rare weekends and holidays we get alone without any obligations feel a lot like those bi-monthly visits - I count down in anticipation and I dread the end  Thing is, I adore my job and I'm happy to invest time and effort in it! I can't figure out if my work/life balance really is dreadful or if my expectations are out of order and I need to just, y'know, grow up.

Well that was probably more than you wanted to know ::) See, that's what you get for writing thought- and emotion-provoking posts - people think and emote at you uncalled for

I'm happy to skip Christmas presents this year - DH and I are spending a mint on our NYE celebration, and the holiday in general, so just being HOME is the perfect gift. I'll be asking for donations in my name instead of gifts from other family members.

However...my 30th birthday comes very shortly after Christmas. I'd like a very nice pair of dangly, formal earrings from DH. We'll see how it goes. Disposable funds just aren't the same when you're a student, unfortunately.

Well I'm glad you felt relaxed enough to post, not only is it interesting to find out 'your story', but it's a great opportunity to send you good vibes as well! Snaps to you for having the gumption to do this! PS is packed with high achievers!! :appl:

Yssie, thank you so much for your good thoughts and big hugs right back at ya! We're hanging in there and really appreciate your well wishes.

I hope you get much quality and quantity time too with your dh this holiday season. Life/work balance can be a difficult juggling routine for sure and I don't think your expectations are unrealistic. It just takes some time to work out just the right balance for you so hang in there and for now make the most of things. Time is the one precious commodity you can never get back and the older I get the more I realize the value in time over other things.

May treat myself to a small pair of diamond studs that I can wear on a daily basis while I am visiting HK at the end of this month.

DK :))

Awww Lara, you're sweet ::) I've met so many wonderful people thanks to PS! And Hangout really embodies that sense of community so it's easy to feel "safe" sharing!
'Course the flip side is that I have to remind myself that it's a public forum... fortunately I'm not important enough to merit unwanted attention!

Thank you missy. You're right, time is precious, and it really does fly if you aren't paying attention! There's been a lot of turnover this year and a big part of the mania is the inevitable internal re-org and settling into a new role with more responsibilities... stressful, but preferable to the alternative! Hopefully things will calm down and I'll figure out where to draw those lines.

I will be thinking of you and your DH and wishing you both a very healthy holiday ::)

Ginger - oh, formal dangly earrings would be perfect for a formal NYE party in Times Square

Lknvrb4, that looks like an awesome watch!! I don't do tris but my son does. He would love that. Go for it!! I bet you will LOVE it!!

I would like to not have to worry about work because we get busy down to 12/31, and just have time to spend with the kids playing and doing nothing!! It's soooo hectic right now cause my DH is traveling and the kids are having their playoffs and tournaments.

And some bling would t hurt either. ;)

I would like a small cheap pair of binoculars becuase there's a lot going on around me as I sit in my 40th floor city apartment that I'm sure is interesting, but I'm missing out on it!

And I would also like a salad spinner becuase I'm tired of patting my spinach dry. (And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the extent of my cooking!)

yeah I'm kinda nuts that way too...probably why we have four cats when he insisted two was a great plenty. I know he misses Sadie a lot too..

I've regained 10 of the 20kg I lost last year, so I've asked the hubs to get me a personal trainer instead of presents for Christmas, our anniversary, Valentines Day and my 30th...

I worked with a wonderful trainer last year but she is finishing her Masters this year so won't be able to train me. She has recommended someone so I'll be meeting him tomorrow to find out if we'd be compatible. I'm hoping he will be open to hearing what I want from training - I love weights (heavy weights, low reps - no 5lb pink Barbie dumbells please), I love having strong legs so I don't want to hear that my thighs are a "problem area" (WTF? I like my thighs, damnit), I don't want to do steady state cardio, running bores me to tears, I hate jumping around like a lunatic and have some social anxiety issues that sometimes make things difficult for me, so I'd prefer to train reaaaaally early in the morning before anyone else gets to the gym.

Not asking for much am I?

Nope. That's what my personal trainer does. I dead lifted 205 pounds last week. :o I no longer run for 2 hours, spinning my wheels. Steady state cardio is not the most effective method of weight loss. Although, diet is 90% of it. There lies my problem. Also, the beer around here doesn't just drink itself...

Oy. Salad spinners are awesome. We have two - one bigger and one smaller - and we use them *all the time*. They make awesome colanders, you can drain pasta and spin it just a bit to get it really dry, I hate tossing lacy underthings in the dryer or wringing them out by hand but I never think far enough ahead to have let them air dry for a couple of days so salad-spinner + blowdryer to the rescue...

LOL! Absolutely not! I'm African - I'd eat steak for breakfast if I could! Why is that woman so happy? What's in that salad?? Someone needs to take a closer look at those leaves!

Will check out that link, thanks!

205lbs! That is impressive! I can't even lift half of that... Yet! I have strong legs though - I leg press 400lbs.

The trainers I've worked with generally want me to run for hours and play with 5lb weights. I hate running and doing it for hours at a time doesn't make me like it any better. I'm with you on the steady state cardio, yet trainers still recommend it??

Oh, diet, schmiet. I fully believe that drinking orange juice with my chocolate equals a balanced meal!
