gas or electric? wood or coal?

Wood or coal? I love that.

Electric ovens and a gas cooktop, both Wolf.

Stainless Steel Kitchenaid Gas stove with a power burner for woking.---Do you want the specs :cheeky:

We have a cheapo Kenmore freestanding gas range, like this.
It works.
I usually buy cheap stuff that just does the job so I can spend more money on stupid stuff like diamonds.

I'd never spend money on fancy appliances, or kitchen or bath remodeling.
Everyone I know longs for the ultimate bath and kitchen.
I want a well-cut flawless Blue 3-ct sapphire with a report from AGL stating its origin is Kashmir.
To each his/her own.

Cooktop and oven are both electric, by Jenn-Aire. We need to replace the oven though. It's about 15 years old, missing various buttons, and I'm sure it's not as energy efficient as a new one.

gas.....

and also a no name {Premier} because i wanted a stove that had an oven i could light with a match should the power go out.

http://www.premierrange.com/rangeP36.htm with the 10 inch splash guard.

looks good but is rather flimsy........ apparently, this is one of the last if not the last stove made with such an oven.....gas stoves usually have electric ignition ovens that cannot be bypassed/lighted in case of power failure.

does the job but i wouldn't use it for baking. fine for all other cooking.

I have this one; it is huge. Cooking is a hobby for me. I had to get a huge vent a hood to handle the stove and I got this behemoth. I'm a happy cooker.

This time of year, I prefer my Weber. I cook everything in it. For Father's Day, I even cooked a cake in it. (It is gas.)

GE (I think). It is electric.

Are you remodeling your kitchen? ;)) We have a gas jenn-aire cooktop.

we should but it is so expensive. our house came with an electric cooktop then about 8 yrs ago we replaced with a gas cooktop from KitchenAid. gas units are so much better no elements, switches to replace.

nice stove PT!! :appl:

Wedgewood, gas, circa about 1930.

Gas, 5 burner, stainless steel, pop up vent, Dacor, 10 yrs. old

Free standing Jenn-Air gas with downdraft for convection and has a detachable grill, which I have never used.

I'm drooling over Pink Towers kick ass stove.

Well where in the middle of remodelling :P so the stove and oven is currently sitting unconnected in the area that will be our informal dining room however there westinghouse for ikea both electric and a glass top stove :) ahhhh to have a working kitchen again

I'm drooling over PT's stove as well. I have a frigidaire gas stove, it looks like this one. I hate the black top because no matter how many times I scrubb it, still does not look clean to my standards. I would love one like PT's since my hobby is cooking.

I have a Whirlpool Gold Accubake electric range with a clean top. I have it for five years now and I still LOVE not having those pesky elements to clean on the top of the stove.

DF,
I steamed huge shrimp on it tonight. I guess with the oil spill, I have never paid so much for local shrimp. I live on an island, and the shrimp boats are visible each day.

MR, You won't believe this, but it is from SEARS!!!!'
I would have never thought to go there, but we actually bought our house from someone who is, 'semi-famous'. If I said the name, you would have heard of the person. They could have chosen any stove they wanted, and they chose one from Sears, so I guess that proves how down to earth they were. The only thing was, they ignored that it needed a huge exhaust, and I had to buy that.

I had a Jenn-Aire down draft once.
I live in a windy area, and it was vented out the side of the house. The vent clattered all the time because of the wind, and it drove me nuts. Does yours clatter?

I have a freestanding Kenmore Elite gas range. It was not cheap (although, what exactly IS cheap one wonders) What it does have that I simply could not do without, is the continuous grates on the top. I was NOT going to deal anymore with dragging a pot off a burner to a lower spot, or having to lift that blinkin' thing to move it. May sound inconsequential but it's not: we cook a bunch and that stove was a blend of the best ergonomics and features that I could afford. Most of the time cooking is pretty simple, but when we're going all out, that stove does what we need it to do. I also like freestanding ranges because when the time comes (ever?) to replace it, it will be less expense and hassle than a built-in, which are more expensive for really, no additional features, just "the look".

Ksinger,
That is exactly what mine is. No doubt about it, it is a whole lot of stove for the money. Mine has two "Turbo Burners" and like you siad, being able to slide the pots all over the stove without lifting them is fantastic. I have a water source built into the wall right above mine also. They should pay us for free advertising.

PT, your stove sounds amazing. We had to buy a new range hood (old one died :knockout: ) and while we were picking out the hood I couldn't help but stare in amazement at the wonderful stainless steel marvels they had sitting there.

Is the oven big enough to bake in comfortably?

Our current oven/cooktop came with the house. It is a Whirlpool electric oven with electric glass cooktop.
Burners take FOREVER to cool down so I have to switch to a different burner when a recipe has me reduce the heat.
And even though it has a self cleaning mode, we can't use it --- comes out wonderfully clean but the first (and only) time we used it, it trashed the parts in the back and we had to have someone out to fix it (yay for negotiating warranty extention). We could fix it ourselves now that we see what to do, but it would still be $50+ in parts plus we'd have to get the thing pulled out (no easy task since it took the repair guy, FI, and me to get it out last time).

Ours is a stainless 30" GE Profile Built-In Gas Downdraft Cooktop: link to photo.

continuous grates and 6 burners: now that i'm used to them, i can't live w/o them.

We're on our worst stove ever, Jennaire smooth top with extra large convection oven. We bought it for the size of the oven, but really should have gone with gas. It was hard to find a range (not a built in cooktop with wall ovens) that had all the features. Next time. :Up_to_something:

I once saw this awesome stove that looked like an old wood stove, but was actually gas/electric. My grandmother cooked her whole life on a woodstove!

Gas. It's a rayburn. I can't live without it, everything tastes better cooked in that oven! ETA I know exactly what you mean about continuous grates! Totally worth it, I'd never go back. In fact, I never want another oven, this one answers all my cooking needs.
It looks exactly like this one:

Ours is electric, Amana, white, with the smooth top. I hate white b/c it always looks dirty.

We remodeled a couple of years ago and my Viking six burner gas cooktop was my splurge. I love it! The only "drawback" is that it gets so hot I have to adjust the cooking temp on many of my recipes!
