2ct G color VS2
2ct F color SI1

Both ideal cuts and will be set with pear sides

Have a budget of $25k...help?

Thanks!!!

we''re going to need a lot more info on the stones in order to help you. crown and pavilion angle''s, measurements etc. do these stones have certificates? got any pictures?

If both are ideal, I''d probably choose the G VS2, because I think that is a nice balance of color and clarity. Is Leon making the ring?

My sentiments exactly!

If, however, you are able to confirm that that F is truly eyeclean, from all angles and close up ... I would pick that one up in a heartbeat! If not, the G/VS2 is the way to go ... shouldn''t show too much color and likely less chance of any visible inclusions.

Either way, given that the cut falls within "ideal" parameters, you should have a lovely centerstone for your ring!

If you are able to check them out in person, together and see which one is livelier or speaks to you more, this might help you to make your decision.

I just started the search for the center stone. Just wasn''t sure which would be a better combination. Can you really tell the difference between F and G color? Sorry if these questions have been answered in the past! How can you go about asking if a stone is eye clean? I stopped by a B&M store the other day and the rep was pretty rude. Said that no SI1 stones would be eyeclean to him because he''s got the ''trained eye''. Do you think thats just a ploy to get me to go higher in clarity or choose from the stones he had already? He had a G VS2 but not an F SI1. Thanks!

Yes if he''s talking about round brilliants it was a ploy, or he was ignorant. I was seriously considering a Hearts on Fire Dream SI before we got our ascher and even WITH the jeweler pointing the inclusion out to me with a SCOPE the sucker was nearly impossible to find!

There''s your answer.

Of course SI stones can be eyeclean. Eyesight plays a part in it, too, but SI stones are often eyeclean.

SI1 stones can certainly be "eyeclean", trained professional or not, I would think. It may be harder to come by than it would be in the VS range, let''s say, but possible all the same. That being said, all VS2 stones aren''t even guaranteed to be eyeclean. Each stone has to be assessed individually as not ALL SI or VS graded stones will be eyeclean.

Maybe the sales guy at the B&M was giving you a hint as to his less than optimal merchandise ... none of the SI1 diamonds in his inventory that he has access to are eyeclean to his "trained eye" ... thus maybe his merchandise just isn''t good enough.

With regards to color - some people can tell the difference b/n F & G color, however, I would hazard a guess to say that most people cannot ... maybe b/n E & G but not so much b/n F & G. Have you looked at the stones yourself and determined if you are able to tell the difference?
