What to do with my 5,3 OEC: choose the Leon Mege design?

What a gorgeous rock!

If you are in Europe, you might want to check out Sebastien Barier. He is in Paris. A member recently posted a spectacular ring from his bench.

Also, while they are located in LA, the folks from Single Stone seem to often be in New York and they do spectacular things with old cut diamonds. A few ideas from them:

Well I'm going to throw in my 2 cents. I think the first setting from Singlestone posted by Rosebloom is beautiful. BUT I think Sarahbear's ring is one of the nicest settings for an old cut I have ever seen. I adore the (presumably full brilliant cut?) halo in lovely contrast to the chunky old stone.

I would have said so even if she hadn't posted it on this thread (had her picture saved as a favorite!). I have been thinking about what would be the most lovely setting for an OEC for a while and that is what I had settled on as my perso0nal favorite. If only I had a lovely 5 carat OEC I needed to set!!

All the best with your decision. You are in the best of hands on Pricescope!

There is a thread on it called LUV2SPARKLE'S Ashley 313. Don't ask me why I put that in all caps. It has lots of pics. I really don't have any better. My camera skills are sadly lacking unfortunately. I would like to add that I have had my ring for awhile now and so far I haven't had any problems with the pave, and I am not particularly gentle. And oh, excuse the sausage-like fingers.

Gorgeous ring. Very delicate AND spectacular!!!
And it's so good to hear that you are nof knocking your stones out with every activity!
Your stone is very very pretty!

Looooove your ring Sarahbear. And thank you for the inpspiration pics!! :wavey:

Diamondseeker and Aprilbaby: thanks for enabling the french cut setting :naughty:

Twolittlebirds: yes, I think this tiny bezel is really pretty and delicate! Would be a lovely combo for my OEC as well
The stats:
5.3 carat, lovely creamy u-v color (facing up whiter though)
VS1 (inclusions not visible and according to the report they are only around the girdle)
11.48 x 11.38 x 6.20 mm
I saw the stone at my local jeweler (not the one who made the extra large bezel setting) and it was love at first sight. We had is appraised by IGI in Antwerp. I must admit that I did not have a clue about diamonds. I thought I knew, having bought diamonds before but only recently I understand the importance of cut.

Charmypoo!! love you ring. :lickout: For my particular stone and in my size it would be too much bling, but yours is a dream!!! I sometimes dream of downgrading my stone to enable a more blingy setting. Lol!

Rosebloom! thank you for the gorgeous eye candy. I will dive into it right after this. Would be indeed great to have a jeweler in Europe who could do this as the thought of having to send my stone across the ocean and back, makes me sweat!

Katie diamondseeker Oh Leon makes such gorgeous jewelry. This design is very refined. I like!!

oohsparkly thanks for your advice! I love halo's, but I don't want my stone to look any larger. Lol!

Thanks all for the compliments about my stone. It make me appreciate it again, as I lost the appreciation a bit since it's in the too modern setting!

Update!!!

Rosebloom's advice about a European designer made me realise that it would be smarter for me to find a European designer. Thinking about my diamond lonely in a box in Fedex cars made me sweat. Till now, contact with Leon Mege has been great!! Very friendly and professional and always answering my emails quickly and extensively. I have also send a request to Steven Kirsch, but have not heard anything back till sofar.

I really would like to work with LM in the future, but not yet at this very moment as it is not quite practical.
Browsing through the e-ring thread, I saw a beautiful ring similar to the one I was looking for but with tapered baguettes instead of french cuts. The ring was designed by dr Indira Marchand in London. The 'headquarters' of the company are in Antwerp which is even closer to home.

Hopefully this jeweler can source french cut stones in a warm color. Just before the weekend the jeweler received news that one of the vendors they work with cut there own frenchies! After Thuesday I will hear more. Wish me luck! And thanks again for your eye candy, advice and inspiration!

I have heard that jeweler mentioned here before, so hopefully that will be the solution for you! Can't wait to see what you decide!
