I suspect CZ would autsparkle anything while white sapphire would let the colored stone (either sapphire or ametyst) hold it's own. It not at all hard to get one, and at 6mm diameter it is not going to cost a fortune either, I guess. Can't wait to see the result, of course!

If you want a true antique look I would suggest amethyst. This stone was very popular over time and in the early 20th century. Amethyst will not cost you a arm in a leg maybye 5-10 dollars a stone.

Hmm...my votes are either amythest (because the delicate antique setting is ultra-feminine, I think) or topaz (which for some reason, I associate with antique jewelry).

Or any simulant/similarly-colored-but-cheaper stone.
