What size eternity band to go with my 2-carat diamond?

Hello, and thank you for reading my post. This is my 2-carat solitaire. I’m interested in two matching eternity, bands (or one double-row eternity band) that would be the same width as the shank of my engagement ring. I’m not even sure if “shank” is the right word. I’m referring to the band on my engagement ring. I want two bands because I don’t think one is going to give me the bling effect I want. But I don’t want the eternity bands to be significantly wider than the band on my engagement ring. I hope I was somewhat clear. I appreciate your input.IMG_0071.jpeg

How wide is the shank on your ring? It should have been in the listing details if you ordered it online.

Do you know I don’t even know what that means? I don’t have the listing details. But to get the shank width, do I simply use a ruler and measure from top to bottom? Is that what the “width” is?

looks a bit over 2mm

Yes. I just measured it (hopefully measured right part!) and it’s in the close neighborhood of 2 cm. Wait, that can’t be right. Because you said millimeters and I measured centimeters. Unless I don’t know what I’m doing. Which is highly likely.

On a related note, I like the style of these two eternity bands. I like the shared prong one better, although I’m wondering if the one with the two prongs is more secure. Or is this style of eternity band, regardless of whether one prong or two prong, just not a good idea? My preference is the one on top. Thank you for your help.IMG_0239.jpegIMG_0238.jpeg

Does your ruler/tape measure show “cm” like the picture below? If so, you may be measuring w the individual lines which would be mm. The picture that @freddyboston posted shows how you should measure. Your ring is most likely between 2-3mm but if you don’t have confidence in your measurement and want to get the exact numbers, just contact who you bought it from if you don’t have the listing! If you don’t want to contact them, you can buy some digital calipers!

Both good choices. Get one of each, at least 2.5 mm. This is measured as you look down at the ring, the way you see your shank. (Buy calipers.) Your diamond is substantial, don't go too dainty.

Yes, exactly what you said Mr. Freddy Boston, the one who led me to my beautiful diamond in the picture to begin with, is how the measurements are. Mr. Freddy Boston, you are a godsend for diamond lovers like me.

I was thinking of .10 pointers for my two eternity bands, but was more concerned with the setting itself. I love both those settings, but I like the single prong one more, but I’m not sure if the stones are secure in that setting. Thank you so much for your help

you could buy some cheap bands somewhere like Amazon to get an idea of what width that you thinks looks best with your ring.

Bump. (Your ring is beautiful)

Thank you possums. Do you mean 2.5 mm from top to bottom?

thank you, Calliecake! It’s quite stunning. Had it not been for Mr. Freddy Boston, I would not have this beautiful gem on my ring finger.

@Chelsea Palmer

Both rings are pretty but the one with double prongs is more secure.

2.5 mm would be the width as shown in @freddyboston 's picture. It would be how wide the eternity band would be.
5 pointers (0.05 carats) would be about 2.4mm wide. 10 pointers would be about 3.0mm wide. If you want to stay close to your
band width.

Here is what a 10 pointer may look like
