Could someone please tell me what I should expect to pay on a 1.2c, H, SI3-I1 round diamond with good cut and polish?

Also is a certificate from Israel a reputable certificate?

Thank you!

Well, this 1.20 H SI3 EGL certed stone is selling for $3764 (price reflects Price Scope discount). I couldn't access the cert, but it may be EGL USA. Your stone should definitely be less than this price since the clarity ranges down to I1. There are a handful of 1.22 to 1.25 H I1 EGL certed stones on Pricescope running from $2762 to $3419 (remember these stones are larger to begin with).

You are asking a great but very basic question that you should spend the time to answer yourself - it's the only way to increase your expertise and confidence in your final decision.

Suggestions:

- read through the tutorial, completely

- search for posts on what you find confusing

- use the great pricing tools here to check market pricing

Price Stats is the best tool for finding the cost per carat for a certain cut/color/clarity

The search engine on the home page can be fine tuned to look for stones that are almost an exact matches in cut/carat/color/clarity/table%/depth%

I've heard Israeli EGL certs can be a bit looser. Hence the need for using an independent appraiser.

Stephen,

Give yourself a week of reading and you'll be the expert among your friends and family. It's a fun investment of time and makes buying the e-ring a more rewarding challenge/experience.

Until I found PS, I dreaded the thought of spending thousands of $ on a hunk of carbon
