What setting shows off ring best?

My boyfriend and I have been shopping for engagement rings and I just can't make a decision!!! I know I want a round brilliant, and he plans to get a diamond 1.5 - 2 carats. I'm concerned about the diamond sitting too high, but I also want a setting to show it off. I'm considering cathedral, pave or some version of that?

I would love to see solitaires on fingers, please send pics!
