I just compared 3 square emerald cuts at my local jeweler. One diamond stood out for me: I felt like the lines along each edge really expressed themselves. To me, that''s what makes an emerald cut cool and geometric, instead of just firey/sparkly.
I haven''t seen enough stones to know what causes this. The specs on the one I liked were: GIA Square Cut Emerald, 6.14 x 6.11 x 3.68, 1.19 carat, Depth 60.2%, Table 70%, Girdle Medium to Slightly Thick, Culet None, Polish Very Good, Symmetry Very Good, Clarity SI1, Color G, Flourescence Faint.
The 2 stones I didn''t like were I Color, SI1 Clarity, one with 70%/70% Depth/Table, and the other with 68%/62%. Does anyone suspect what made the one seem so much better to me?
Thanks,
Bob
