I think it's pretty nice, actually. What's the gold weight? It's over two carats, Burma, really pretty color with a very slight orange undertone(at least on my monitor). It'll have nice glow. It could go for 5k or more at auction pretty easily. If a reseller gets it? Who knows.
Stone is in great shape as well. Anything under 5 is good, get under 4 and it's a smoking deal.
Minor residues is the best a heated Burmese ruby can hope to be, more or less. In order to avoid it you have to go into unheated territory and the prices there for top quality material are unironically in the range of 25-30k.
It’s lovely, to my eye it tones to orange red but has vividness. Heated with minor residues and over 2 carats, agree a good price is under $5,000.
If it isn’t an eBay auction, remember that auction houses have a buyers premium of up to 30% so do check what other fees are payable.
Totally “left field” but an eBay item with 1 hour to go which I would take a punt on at $150. Most lab rubies are the perfect “pigeon blood red” because they can, this is one is toning to orange which isn’t uncommon in lab materials. Seller appears to know little about jewellry and takes awful photos.
Under $5k? I'd go for it for sure....in a heartbeat!
I did in fact forget to mention that. It doesn’t sound like she’s going to bid but I should figure that out in case she does.
It went for $4975 if anyone is curious.
