Wow, that sounds high.
Do you use a lot of data, as in streaming movies on your smartphone?

$158 for 4 smart phones with AT&T family plan.

About 155 for 2 smartphones AT&T. We use about 10gb of data a month. I do a lot of driving so it's a lot of GPS (which saves my life!) and streaming music. When you're driving around Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Long Island 15-20 hours a week GPS is necessary! It's also my internet on the go which keeps me entertained when I'm on breaks.

Mine is $12 plus tax with Page Plus Cellular for 250 texts and 250 min. My husband and sons all use Boost Mobile, 55-43(shrinkage plan) per month per phone with unlimited data and minutes and texts.

$132/mo for 2 cell phones (both smart phones), 8GB data, unlimited call, text, insurance, etc...

I'm cheap.
I don't have a smartphone, just this $9.95 dumbphone.
No data, no Internet ... just phone and text, but I've never sent a text, so just phone.

I have a pre-paid plan, 10 cents a minute when I pre-pay to load the phone with 1000 minutes at a time.
With my usage it averages around $14 a month.

Good enough.

Sorry I'm not sure if I chose the correct option; hubs & I have a family plan so I clicked the box for the amount for both of us, not just me. Should I have halved it?

$160 for two smart phones with AT & T.

Yes Kenny, we know. I'm not sure what you're more passionate about...FCDs or hating on smartphones, lol. I mean this all in good fun but your PS motto is "people vary" yet you always jump on the overpaying for phones train. Just sayin'.

Verizon More Everything Plan. 4G LTE
3 smart phones
3 tablets
5 GB data (our average montly usage is 2.8 GB)-- we pay for 2GB plan and get 3GB free for 24 months.
Unlimited talk and text
Insurance on all 6 devices
20% discount on base plan from work
---
$235/month

This is what is right for us. People vary.

Huh?
Who's jumping on a train.

Yes people vary.

Everyone is just posting their choices, what's right for them as Gypsy says.

We are with Verizon. 2 smart phones. Unlimited talk and text, 4 g data. International roaming and phone insurance comes out to $197 with a 16% discount. DH travels overseas and then data roaming and international roaming charges shoot it right up to about $700.

Was shocked to see that the majority pay over $60, then I realized that the majority is essentially counting two phone lines.
With insurance, I pay $55 with Virgin pre-paid. FI has been with Verizon forEVER, but easily pays over $100, which puts us in the $120 column, however we pay these bills separately. Crazy to think of how much we spend.

I am in AUS and the equiv is $65/month smart phone bill. it may work differently in terms of what you get... but that is me sorted. i get up to $300 worth of calls from memory.. but my 2yr contract is nearly up and considering the next phone... potentially i6.. not the i6+

I use my home WIFI and work WIFI... that means i dont need to get a data plan with the phone.

Here in France
$21.40 per month - one number
No contract Smartphone
Intl calls - unlimited (120+ countries)
Intl text - unlimited
Send / receive FAX
3Gb data / month
(wine & telecom are cheap here [emoji1])

We pay just about $122/month for 2 smartphones on Verizon.

South Africa. We only pay for outgoing calls, not incoming. Can't believe Americans are expected to pay for incoming calls.

We have three lines:
$40 for an iPhone with around 200 minutes, 200 texts and 500mb of data (Me)
$23 for a BlackBerry with around 75 minutes, 75 texts and unlimited data (DH)
$15 for a BlackBerry with around $15 in prepaid credit and unlimited data (Brother)

That's not nearly enough for me so I usually end up paying around $80-$100 for my phone. The hubs uses his phone so rarely that he loses minutes.

Telecommunication is quite expensive here. They claim it's because of a lack of infrastructure but I think they just like giving themselves big bonuses.

We don't pay for any calls. Most plans have unlimited calling and texting, it's just the data we pay for. I pay $150/mo for 5 smart phones and 3 iPads. We get an apple employee discount. Our plan has 10 g data. We never get close to using it because wifi is everywhere.

We pay $60/month for two smartphones with unlimited talk and text and I think 500 mb of data each with a prepaid plan. We're currently using H2O mobile, which uses ATT's towers, and we paid $100 each for our phones about a year ago. The service is maybe a hair less reliable than Verizon (which we had back before we had smartphones) but for the price, I'm very happy.

My son does, he used to have unlimited data plan but now he is limited to 6 gigs and he uses every darn one of them every darn month lol

Thanks for answering.
I'm certainly not criticizing.
I just have never had a data plan on a phone and was curious about data consumption.

They way they spec data does not make sense to me.
But I was told that watching movies is a very data-intensive thing for a cellphone, as you have confirmed.

not too familiar with US plans, but my canadian plan is ~$55 a month
with $30 towards 6GB of data and the rest towards calling minutes and unlimited texting.

3 lines, all smart phones.
Unlimited text/talk and 10GB shared data.
$120/mo.
I get a discount through work, as well.

No one choke please...

Our Verizon bill is $275 a month - and that is with my work discount of 18%
3 smartphones - 2 with unlimited data, 550 mins shared, 250 texts; and 1 just added with 2GB data and unlimited talk/text for the son just out of the Navy.

I have said this before but we are in the sticks and the cell phones are our only internet. We pay for wifi hotspot on the 2 with unlimited data. Normal usage is 20-25GB per month but since son is home our usage this month was 110G! :errrr: Guess we will be testing out if it is truly unlimited data or if Verizon police will knock on the door. Sucks that we have to pay full price for a phone to keep our plan but the overage charges would be way more than that. I just bought a Samsung S5 for $499.

I don't have a cell phone, but our cable internet comes with free public wifi acess, so I communicate by text with my old ipod.
DH pays around $35/month 500mb data, unlimited texting and 100 mins phone time.
As Canadians we are stuck with high prices due to the oligopoly held by phone/cable providers.

Some have unlimited, some don't. I know when I call friends in the US some of them are billed for incoming international calls. It's usually just easier and cheaper for them to call me. Very frustrating when I have something I want to share RIGHT NOW!

You're lucky to have wifi everywhere. In my shitty little town we only have it at some chain steak and chips chains and even then you're limited to like 30mb a day or something ridiculous.

Unlimited certainly does make more sense, but in South Africa it would cost ~$220pm.

2 smart phones, 2 dumb phones. $171.00 ATT family plan.

This includes unlimited text.
