I ran across this, looking for something else.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VS1-Good-Cut-Round-Diamond-1429007.asp Is this a new, old style roundish thing? Tables bigger than you'd think for an old style. Culet is there. Depth for an old cut is not surprising. Neither is the GIA cert. But whatever is going on there in the center isn't saying old cut to me. Just a REALLY bad cut round? Inquiring minds.

Transitional? GIA doesn't have the OEC option do they? I thought they always list as round brilliant.

ARe they listing old cuts now?

A lapidary with a big bottle of scotch?
It does have a ton of personality.

I think it is old and a late transitional/early rb. The old cuts in my 2 vintage rings were like this...transitional looking with larger tables.

I'm thinking of turning this into a weird diamonds found at vendors websites thread. There is a whole lot of wonktastic stuff if you look for it, I'm discovering.

This is why were rarely venture out of Excellent cut! Scary things out there!

Definitely a late transitional. My ER diamond looks similar to it. It has the arrows but also chunky facets. I promise it's pretty in real life!

I believe it. I'd actually love to see an ASET of that one.

texas-- LMAO. You gotta wonder. I'm thinking Moonshine myself.

I like this thread, keep em coming it's entertaining!

I think we'd have to see idealscope images to see why one is "good". Very hard to tell just from the diamond image since we can't see potential leakage.

And ewwwww! Some I1's are very scary, too!

I guess you have a knack for finding exceptionally strange diamonds as well as beautiful ones! I'm fascinated by these.

Presenting the Solar Eclipse Diamond: http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-VVS2-Very-Good-Cut-Round-Diamond-1454080.asp with GIA Very Good Cut, a great clarity rating of VVS2, it can be yours for ONLY 10k!

That's a specialty cut...look at the diagram of the stone. It actually is a pretty cut! Doesn't give the angles, though.

Okay so... someone put thought into it and that's what the result was. Huh. Wonders never cease. "Celebration" cut huh? What were they celebrating up there in Canada I wonder.

It could, granted, just be a REALLY bad picture. Which begs the question-- why post it if you are trying to SELL that stone.

   Gypsy you are hilarious!!! I'm loving your treasure chest of specialty stones!

"Solar eclipse"

You're killing me! :appl:

I'm not sure why but I LOVE this thread. I wonder how many diamonds we see out and about would have magnified images that look like this? Would love to see RLP pics of these "beauties" :)

Why is this one only GOOD cut (compared to the Very Good's above). http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/H-I1-Good-Cut-Round-Diamond-1413038.asp It scores a .6 on the HCA to boot. Inquiring minds... anyone got an answer? I'm oddly fond of this one, and that inclusion is prongable (okay so we're talking big prongs, but still).

GIA does not allow pavilion angle that low to be a better cut grade, you can find the info on GIA's website.

I believe it's one of Zales' Celebration diamonds. They have it inscribed in their stones. I wonder how it got to JA?!
