What is the minimal Color you would go with for a 1.5ct round?

If i were to consider a 1.5ct round super ideal cut that is eye-clean. What would be the lowest color you would recommend for it to still look white under normal lighting conditions?

Would you go H, I, or J?
 
 
I am having trouble finding ones with some flouro.

It seems like its a desireable trait in a H-J color diamond.
 
I would go as far as a J ( but I love the Strong Fluor). I have strong fluor with my H color stone and it faces up so white.

It''s beautiful and I am a serious believer that ideal cuts help a lower-colored diamond face up whiter now.

But, it does show warmth in certain lights (especially indoors) and it bothers me (but not my mom so we''re all good!

I would personally not go lower than an I, and if I had a large enough budget, no lower than an H.

Have you gone and looked at different colors, even at Tiffanys? I found that when I went there Is were too warm for me, and H was my minimum. With an ideal-cut I might go down to an I. I think you should definitely go and look and see how color sensitive you are.

My diamonds range from D to G. The icyist looking one is the E color. I''m color sensitive and can easily see the difference between that and my G stone. The warmth of the G is nice, but I don''t think I''d go lower than an H in a 1.5 size stone. I like a hint of warmth, but that''s it.

Have you looked at well-cut diamonds in person to see what your preference is?

I went with an "I" with medium fluorescence. It''s 1.48 and it''s icy white. The independent appraiser (PS highly recommended) thought it was a G and that''s even after comparing it to his full set of master graded GIA diamonds!
 
Since you are looking for a stone that will "still look white under most lighting conditions," I would not go below H. You can ask us, but you still need to see these colors in person because we all have different sensitivities when it comes to color. I am very color sensitive and I would not go below E.
 
I would choose G or H, probably. I have a 1.35 F and I love it's icy white. No way would I want a big J or K now.

Maybe an I if it didn't show too much tint from the side. This pic is from Good Old Gold. Left is 1.19ct G almost F, and right was something like a 1.48ct high J almost I with superb cut. I decided that the J has too much body tint. As carat weight increases the color shows more. So while I might like a .5ct J, I am pretty sure that 1.5 J is too much yellow. J and K just don't appeal to me, usually. But L and M, where they are a cream or ivory or pale yellow, I really like.

In an ideal world, I would not go lower than an H color, perhaps I color if the vendor thought it was harshly graded.

depends if you want it to look white - not just in all lights, but also from all angles. lots of well cut J''s can look very white face on. but tip them on their side and....

if, however, you decide to set it in a bezel, it''ll cover a multitude of evils and, so long as it was very well cut, i''d go as low as a J.

set in prongs, however, probably an F. i have a yellow sapphire set with a G stone on one side, and an H on the other. most of my other stones are E or F, and i can definitely tell the difference between the G and the E. the H is very obviously warmer to me.

so i set my white stones in platinum and my warmer stones in yellow gold. solves the problem :)
 
if you/they can afford a 1.5 H, then H would be a great choice.

To keep the stone looking very white from all angles, I would suggest H colour unless you have seen I and J in a similar size and are ok with them.
 
Ideally I wouldn''t go lower than G. If I really loved the stone, I`d go for H.
