What is one food from your childhood that you can’t get today?

I have no idea if these are still available and I wouldn't want to eat one if it were. However, as a child I loved little ice cream cones made out of marshmallow. They were in pastel colors, maybe three colors to a "cone". I will see if I can google an image. For all I know they are still available. I think one had to buy a box with many (6? 10?) in it.

I had forgotten all about those! You can still find some. https://www.truetreatscandy.com/?s=marshmallow+ice+cream+cones

I loved the Clark bars!
Is this sign still there @Matthews1127 ?

It’s been a while since I’ve been down there....but last time I was, it was still there.
It’s ironic that this photo would be posted, here, of all places.
The Clark Building is FILLED with jewelry vendors.....lol!! Quality at discount prices. I have not gone there to shop for jewelry, but it is on the list of places to go, and diamonds to see....lol!!

Wise potato chips!

Actually, this building is on the North Side near the Stadium. I remember seeing this sign when we went to see a Pirates game back in the 80's. But I've just done some research and the Clark sign is no longer there:(

The Clark Building (with all the jewelers) is on 7th and Liberty, downtown. I got my first engagement ring from a jeweler in the Clark Bldg!
Ahhh, the early 80's---good times n'at in the 'Burgh!

They went good with your chipped ham sandwich.
OMG, now I'm homesick.................

Minor thread hijack. Back when I was young (before color TV) there were the Wise People and there were the Snyder's people and between those groups and the Pepsi vs Coke crowd families and friendships could be torn asunder

Matata posted a meme about this early on that had me ROFL! I'll see if I can find (or maybe she has it handy).

I remember going to friends' houses after school and being given Snyder's for a snack. I was like... WTF?!

Well there was Tab!

I was Wise chips and Tab. Then Wise chips and Diet Coke. No Pepsi, Coke.

Jumbo (also from Isaly's). Bologna doesn't exist although some will try to convince otherwise.

16 oz. bottled Pepsi. Best soda ever...

I’m not sure if any of these candies are still around anymore, but I remember them fondly! :P2

The list is immense - & I am recounting much of it every week; frankly, not much is the same, not even the salt. I am comparing two of the best places to eat in Europe, however, so much as I miss one, I'd be a fool to deny this other.

Back before Snapple was known or popular, my mom used to get it through her healthy foods co-op. They had a flavor that was called "Vitamin Supreme". It was amazing. My sister and I used to freeze it and make it into popsicles. That was the closest we came in our house to dessert. I grew up in a whole foods household before "Whole Foods" was a thing.

Yepper!!
It’s been ages since I’ve walked around the North Side.
I will go to the Clark bldg (with all the jewelers) in my near future!!!

It’s been ages since I’ve walked around the North Side.

I went back 3 years ago after a 20 yr absence and was gobsmacked by the transformation of the city. Large parts of the North Side have been gentrified and others not so much. I spent my childhood years in Manchester and it's still known as a rough neighborhood albeit surrounded by redeveloped residential and business areas.
