what is a honeymoon band?

We don't have them where we live but I always thought it was a ring to wear when you go on your honeymoon instead of taking your expensive wedding and engagement rings with you...... could be wrong of course - its not unheard of

it is a plain gold or platinum band - something not expensive so you can leave your other rings at home. For those who actually *marry* with a plain band this in''t an issue.... but for those who have lots of diamonds everywhere including their wedding band, it is a fill in band to wear when you travel. Reason # 1234232 IMO for why its a good thing to say the vows with the humble band LOL

This is what I would guess as well, just a cheapo band to wear on vacation so you don''t have to endanger yourself or worry about theft.

That is my guess as well. A cheap wedding band you wear on your honeymoon so you don't have to worry about your expensive rings.

This is the group of musicans that help you get your groove on, during the honeymoon period. I suppose they specialize in that syrupy sweet romantic stuff maybe some Barry White and some Barry Manilow and maybe a little Barry Bee Gee...ok maybe not. (I couldn''t think of another Barry...so I made that last one up).

Why would it be called a band specifically and not a ring? So see...this is definately a music group.

I believe that JCrow first coined the phrase here on PS. At least, I remember reading about her second band in one of her threads. And I thought it was a great idea! Although my actual wedding band isn''t expensive by any means (non-ideal eternity/pave band from the L.A Diamond district), I thought it would be a good idea to wear a plain plat band on my Mexican honeymoon.

Surprisingly, I''ve found many occasions to wear it here at home!

Honestly, I find many reasons to wear my plain band; travel, gardening, cleaning, gym.

Gibb, Gibb, Gibb, I couldn''t think of the last name of the Bee Gees. Too funny. So, I was right? But they really don''t have any syrupy songs...that was the part I was making up-and who listens to Barry Manilow anyway? I suppose that is my point, no body hires the Honeymoon Band anymore because they play obsolete music. That is why this hip and cool board doesn''t know WHAT the HONEYMOON BAND is.

Sidebar: Is Barry White that guy who has that really low deep voice and many couples say that it was his voice that they claim is the reason they got pregnant? That is how I got on the Barry thing, well if it is him.

Yup, that's him. Barry White's also the guy that Cage (aka "The Biscuit") from Ally McBeal listened to in his head to psych himself up for a trial, for that matter.
