what I noticed

Ok. Here I am at my lab, it''s 930pm and I''m wearing a black top and my diamond engagement ring (and other clothes too

). It''s rated I by GIA and I never noticed any color before but now I kinda do. This is face up. This sucks. I don''t think I''m going to wear black again.

I''m working on a paper (my first 1st author publication btw

) and I can''t stop staring at my ring while I type. This sucks!!!! I can''t work.

arghhhhh....It''s so weird. As my hands are right in front of me, it''s kinda yellow, but when I stretch my arm to the side, it''s bright white. I can''t stand this now. I need some sleep.

WOW, first publication!!! This is soooo exciting!!! I lost sleep for three nights with my first one, and that was after it hit the printing press

... Congratulations for the wonderful experince!

Your diamond is white. The light around it near the screen was not; the monitor, or some desk lamp, or the color of a large object nearby (not necesarily your black top) were to blame, for sure. That's the thing with colorless stones, they are just begging to borrow color from wherever it comes. I find their cameleonic nature quite enjoyable... I hope you do too.

Valeria is right on. I was nervous about my F color stone that seemed to have a tinge of yellow to it in certain light. I posted about it because I thought it might be the minute carbon crystal and Garry said it was probably my beige ceilings! (How did he know??) There is a lot of beige in my house which is where I notice it most.

Don't stop wearing black!! And don't be discouraged about your beautiful ring, enjoy it!

Yep, it's not your black clothes. I frequently wear black & it has a positive effect on the color.

Well this morning I come in wearing a grey fleece and now my ring is bright white. The walls in this office a little dingy and I'm sure you guys are right about the lighting, etc. phew! I thought that was going to drive me crazy...

HeeeHeee! Ance! Too funny!!

Occassionally we see really nice pics taken by the Vendors prior to shipment and the diamonds have some wierd colors in them. Turns out the photographer was wearing a bright colored shirt or there was something sitting nearby that the diamond picked up color from.

Yes diamonds pick up what is around them. We were at a Pho place recently and I realized my ring was this funky shade of blue! It was the blue neon sign they had over the cashier...about 20 feet away...picking up the blue from that and reflecting in my ring! It actually looked really cool.

Kind of fun anyway.




Hmm now I am worried about our new taupe walls...my ring may look a bit brown?
