It depends, some shapes such as Princess are referred to as square modified brilliants or rectangular modified brilliants if off square according to GIA ( radiants and some Princess not considered square). Some types of cushions are also referred to as modified brilliants, learn more https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/a-cushion-by-any-other-name.36001/

‘Brilliant’ is a facet design where the pavilion comes to a point with long skinny facets going from the girdle to the culet (that’s the name of the point). You can have round brilliants, square brilliants, brilliants in the shape of the state of Texas and pretty much anything else the cutter wants to make.

‘Modified’ means that it’s not exactly the standard facet arrangement. It may be cut corners, it may be extra facets or it may be something else. In non-round brilliant cuts, nearly all end up being described as modified.

‘Radiant’ is a brand name, rather like Tiffany or Asscher. Although they tend to be used rather generically in the real world, responsible labs don’t use them in their descriptions so you end up with terms like ‘cut cornered modified rectangular brilliant’. It doesn’t roll off the tongue quite as well as ‘Radiant’ but it’s technically and legally more accurate. It's ok, you can still tell people it's a radiant.
