Hello gang-

some of you may recall that I stumbled across a B&M here in Atlanta that has a sarin machine, idealscope, and knows about PS. I am working with the owner to find a stone. He know my walk out the door budget w/ the mounting. As a reference, I am looking at a stone in the 1 carat range that is about $6K. The owner is excited to work with a customer who is educated about stones and is eager to play with all the toys at his store to help me find a good diamond.

I put the specs into the cut advisor and it comes out 1.4, so that is pretty good.

Its a G SI1 1.05, but I have not seen it yet, so I do not know if its eye clean.

He sent me a few other stones earlier in the week, but this is the first one that looks appealing...

give me your thoughts based on the attached.

THANKS!!

Mintve -- How exciting ... Glad that your search is progressing nicely!

This diamond looks as though it has a lot of promise! Looks pretty good.
Given that the "numbers" look okay and it scores an Excellent 1.4 on the HCA, I would say in order to be certain, we''d have to get your opinions on it after you''ve seen it and an idealscope and/or ASET pic, if possible.

If you are interested in an ideal cut diamond, I''ll post the "Ideal" range specs for you so that you can use them as a reference when looking at the diamonds the jeweler will be showing you if you don''t already have them ...

Total depth = 60 - 62.1% (or thereabouts)
Table = 53 - 57%
Crown height = 15.4 +/- .6%
Pavilion depth = 43.1%
Girdle = 2.5% +/- .5%
Crown Angle = 34.5 or above (can''t recall the "range", sorry)
Pavilion Angle = 40.75 (can''t recall the range, sorry)
Girdle = Thin to Slightly Thick

I hope this helps! I can''t wait to see if this is "the" one, as far as you are concerned.

Thanks Spark and Skippy-

I have not seen this one in person yet. The jewler just sent me the GIA number this evening. I will check it out sometime next week :)

I''d say it has potential, and might be a bit more firey. Check it out, look at it with the IS and see what ya think!

Hi Mintve, I agree with El this could be a good pick!

A nice range of crown angles are 34 - 35% -

pavillion angle - 40.5 - 40.9 / 41- in some cases if the crown angle compliments. Also you can use the cut advisor to check out complimentary crown and pavillion angles outside of these ranges and Idealscope. With the suggested numbers, at the either ends of the scale, further evaluation would be useful to make sure they work well on that particular diamond.

Also for a firey diamond, try to keep the table a bit smaller or around 54 to 55 and the crown angle steeper of 35 degrees plus, along with a pavillion angle of no more than 40.6, to find the most firey contenders.

thanks lorelei. it does seem to fall into all the right ranges and its scores a 1.4 on the cut advisor. I am looking forward to checking it our in person and seeing it w/ an idealscope next week!

I will be excited to hear what you think!!!
