Hi guys, I need your opinions again~

The description says, "From a new source in Madagascar I got a parcel of superb Rhodolites. The colour is a deep red with some magenta hue. Very saturated and not to dark.". I never purchased from him before, thus don't know how it will look in person comparing to the picture. I just have the concern that it might be a little on the dark side IRL. I have tried to contact him but no reply...

What do you think? Shall I purchase this one?
Thank you all very much!!

HI Babydoll! I purchased a rhodolite from Uli before, it looks very close to the color in your photo and it was described as saturated but not too dark. Here are some reference for u. I do find the real stone darker than the photos. The red flashes seem to only emerge under stronger lighting. hope that helps!

The stone looks great but I, too, worry that it will be a smidge darker in person so you will see the red colour but only as flashes. Another thing to keep in mind is that when one thinks "rhodolite", there is usually the expectation to see some purple in it.

I agree with Chrono, I feel it is going to be very very dark in person.

I've bought a few small stones from Uli, and on the whole, I find his stones to be darker than in the photograph. I'm actually about to send a few back because they were much darker than expected.

When I think of Rhodolite I think of plums or raspberries. I don't think brown or brick red. Whilst the stone from Uli is a superb cut, like others (I'm sorry) I suspect this will be very dark and quite extinct. If you like dark gems with brown tones then this will suit you but if you're looking for a more plummy Rhodolite I don't think this will be the one.

Hey :wavey: Thank you chictomato, Chrono, TL, lavatea and LD for your valuable inputs (and pictures!! yay~)

I think I'll just pass this one...
Thank you guys again!

You already have made the decision, and I think you are right, I just wanted to add two more things. First, his darker stones usually look dark; not so for lighter-colored stones. Second, this cut will produce significant extinction in real life. I do recommend it for lighter-colored stones, but this stone will not look good with such a cut. This being said, it is nice that Uli is always experimenting with new cuts, sometimes successfully, sometimes not, but you can always expect something interesting from him.
