What do you think of this Emerald Cut Diamond? (1.74 J VVS2)

After many months of lurking (searching, scouring, reading every post), I found *the one* seemingly perfect emerald cut diamond... for the price

Now I'm really interested in your thoughts!

My budget was 6-7k usd, and after looking at many diamonds (some in person), this seems like a great deal. Compared to other ECs on James Allen, I like the look of this one, but I really know nothing about how it might "perform".

I realize it's warmer for a step cut, but it will have an 18k yellow gold setting (2mm knife edge probably).

I've considered white vs yellow gold prongs, and I'd like opinions on that as well. Right now I'm leaning toward white prongs while hoping they won't contrast too much with this warmer diamond.

It looks like it has potential. Can you request an aset image and post it. We have some PSers with some beautiful J/K emerald
cuts. As long as you know what you are getting and arent expecting bright white. I would probably stick with white gold prongs.
What was the price? It's not posting anymore.

Here's the ASET. It looks mediocre compared to other ASETs I have seen, but I'm really not knowledgable.

(For the price, $6500, I wasn't expecting fiery awesome performance, and of course the resident gemologist said it was great and would make me very happy.)

I think that's an awesome price for that size of stone.

It's not looking real lively right down in the center but if you can live with that (and the J color) I think it's a really great size/buy.

Do I think you can find better performers? Yes...

It would be set in 18k yellow gold, likely with white gold prongs... I'm still a bit undecided on that detail and am open to opinions.

I was looking for the largest size with above average quality for my stretched budget. I hope this diamond strikes a nice balance.

I think it's terrible. Not enough on off facets so when you shrink it down to 1x or 2x it looks like a dark black bar across the face of the diamond. But maybe you like that bowtie type look and it's worth pursuing but I'd pass on it.

What's terrible on a scale of one to ten?

I've never been able to compare a diamond's in-person appearance to its ASET image.
