These photos are really terrible but seem to be the best that I can do. It's 2.74 Ct ~8.8 x 8.1/VS estimated to be L/M. Price of $12.5k. It's uncerted but the vendor will send it for certification if I want. If the vendor pays for the cert, I'm taking a risk it will come back with better stats and the price will change. If I pay for the cert, I take the risk that it comes back with worse stats.

As far as I'm concerned, the stone is a keeper. It flashes crazy fire in bright sunlight and is quite sparkly in all the lighting I've tried (testing it at home over the weekend before I decide). It's also quite symmetrical and shows a distinct Maltese cross pattern in person. More symmetrical than my OMC earrings. But when I compare this to my L colored OMC earring, it looks quite a bit more tinted. Attached photos are an attempt to show the range of tint that I see, which ranges from white to a lovely champagne. I actually think the tint adds character and love the range of color.

Since I'm not an expert, I have no idea whether the L/M estimate is accurate, and whether the reason I see so much more tint than my earring is the size differential--~1.1 ct vs 2.74 ct--or because the estimate is off. So my real question is around pricing and the effect of stone size on color. As far as I can tell the price is reasonable for an M/N color (and I'm not worried about the clarity being in the Si or lower range). I'm having a hard time figuring out the color at which the current price would be too high. Im having a hard time finding reasonably comparable examples for a stone this large.

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

Can't speak to the color or performance from the stills, but I like the facet pattern. Very pretty!

I haven't looked at pricing recently, but it seems to be very reasonable for an almost 3 carat stone. Almost too lowo_O

Thanks! The more I look at it In different lighting, the more I like it.

If you like the stone, pay for the cert yourself since it sounds like you are going to get it no matter what. But before you send it out, agree on lower pricing if it comes back less than M color

Ditto tophat1....Pay for the report yourself...to be honest even if it is lower color $12.5k is a great price for an almost 3 ct stone.
It looks really beautiful (from what I can tell from the photos).

Thanks everyone. Paying for the cert myself was my plan, so it's nice to see others in agreement. I need to peruse the thread on how to take better photos. The diamond really performs nicely in real life. It's interesting that, to my untrained eye, the various facets seem to turn on and off much like one of the Videos for the BG branded emerald cuts when the diamond is moved around.

Oh that’s lovely! I’d snap that up cos the tint looks to be a really beautiful one and the price is very good even if it comes back MNO. The facets and size are delightful

Pretty. I like it a lot. Price seems reasonable too.

Very pretty faceting (and I am an antique cushion faceting snob ;) ) . I wouldn't pass it up -- you seem to love it and trust me, once it's gone you'll be kicking yourself in the butt for not having bought it if you're as enamored with it as you seem to be.

This is a lovely stone, I would snap it up!!!

Beautiful diamond! I love the L/W proportions that make it a distinct cushion shape and think the faceting looks dreamy. I’d definitely buy it and send it for grading myself.

Ditto, and ditto ::)

It’s a gorgeous stone for the price!

Yes, very nice faceting. I’m guessing at least an M, but would put money on N. Glad you went for it.

The diamond came back as an M VS2. Adam at OWD has been great to work with. I was lucky that he identified a great diamond for me within my specs and price range right off the bat.

In any case, the completed ring has been posted to the OWD instagram page:

It arrived at my house this morning but I won't be home until late tonight. Can't wait to see the finished ring in person!

It's beautiful! Such a stunning diamond. Looking forward to more pics!

OMG!!! I saw this on IG. I thought that restoration job was phenomenal and that setting could not compliment the stone more. Can’t wait to see hand shots!

Omg I thought that stone looked familiar (and therefore meant I was spending way too much time on OWD’s site! :lol-2:).
Your ring is gorgeous @Miss Marple I hope you’ll come back and post all the handshots for us to drool over :appl:

It’s really beautiful and I’m no expert but I think you did well!

HI:

WOW!

cheers--Sharon

That video on OWD’s instagram is fabulous! I love the M/N colour diamonds and that one is just stunning!

Thanks everyone! I keep looking at the video rather than working.
