I fell in love with this ring... But I know nothing about gemstones so I''m not sure if I paid too much, the original price was supposedly $957, and I bought it for $450.

Any educated pricescopers out there, please let me know what I should have paid for this ring, did I get a deal? did I get taken in? If I paid too much I''m going to return it.

Yellow Gold, Green Amethyst, Diamond ring. $450.

Specs:
2.68 grams
.37 ct. VS1-2 G-H diamonds
1.35 ct. green amethyst center stone

$450...
Tell me what you guys think?

Okay, I'm going to be brutally honest and say that unless you are happy to pay that just for the setting then you were ripped off.

$957 must be a joke.

Green Amethyst is heated/irradiated poor quality normal amethyst. For a 1.35ct stone I wouldn't pay more than $30.

Sorry.

Yes, it was a bit pricey for what it is...

You say that you love the ring, but you wonder if you were ripped off? In my opinion, if you love it then keep it, if you don''t, then return it. I personally think it is really pretty!

Yes it''s true it''s irradiated quartz of some type. But it''s a pretty ring. I think you paid about what it would cost at a retail store like Macy''s or something like that.

Just want to clarify that the $30 would be for a loose stone, not the whole ring...

In a retail setting I''ve seen green amethyst rings in similar settings for around $500-$700. Online, I''ve seen similar ones for closer to $200. Basically, your paying for the setting. Green amethysts are not very valuable because they are treated stones. (but pretty. I''ve always liked them)

Not sure about the price, but it is a pretty ring

The center stone isn't worth much, but I think the setting is lovely, and if that's truly the carat weight and quality on the diamonds, I think $450 is a fair price. I certainly wouldn't pay more than that, and it is light on the gold weight. In actuality, you paid the setting price, the stone was thrown in for free since it's not a valuable stone. Green quartz wholesales for maybe $5/ct if that, but it is a lovely stone. In the end, I think it's a lovely ring, and it appears to have nice craftmanship, and I hope you enjoy it.

I think $450 is okay for that setting. It''s a pretty ring!

Are you sure it''s green amethyst? Is it stamped 14kt? I agree if you love the ring then what the hey.

I think the ring is very pretty and if you like it; then all is well. I think it is an average price for that ring in a retail setting. I wandered around last weekend through about a dozen jewelry stores and rings like this were everyone in wide price ranges with the gemstone rings running $500 to $900 and the colored diamond rings running higher.

To be honest, it all depends on the setting.

I don''t know much about amethysts, but small diamonds are generally not worth very much unless they''re colored diamonds. Is the gold 22k? 18k? 14k?

It''s 14k, and green amethysts arent worth much. I''m not worried about the resale value or anything like that I just don''t want to be out shopping one day and see the same ring for half of what I paid.

I think it is a lovely ring and if you love it, wear it in good health!

I think the ring is pretty. Did you overpay? I think not. Check out the mall and see what you get for that price. Pricescope members are very savvy and tend to get great deals so a few may think you overpaid. You love it, it is gold so it will look gorgeous forever, and again you love it. So it is a bargain.

Some of the ladies said you paid too much because they thought you paid $957. But since you didn''t, you paid $450, I think it''s reasonable enough.

I think its a beautiful setting!!

I think it is a gorgeous ring! If you love love love it--- then wear it and take every opportunity to draw attention to it. If you do decide to keep it, you need to let any worries about the price go otherwise it hang a black cloud over the ring.

I might have missed it but where did you buy it? Local jeweler? Online?
