Hi everyone,

Could you give me your opinions on this stone? I currently have on hold.

Thanks so much.

GIA 1.72

H SI1 (eye clean)
Cut - excellent
Polish - excellent
Sym - excellent
34.5% crown angle
41% pavillon
61.7% depth
55% table
Girdle - thin to medium
Cutlet - none
Fluorescence - none

listed at $11,384.00

It looks like a very nice cut, just outside the AGS0 specs. It scored a 1.8 on the HCA cut tool, which is good.

I agree that it looks good so far. Any chance of getting an Idealscope pic?

I dont think I can get an ideal scope pic. It is a blue nile stone and all they said was that it was eye clean under normal viewing conditions.

It''s good to hear that it is eyeclean. The price seems good.

I''d say it''s worth bringing home, as BN has a good return policy. But, I would take it to an independant appraiser (one who does not sell jewelry) as soon as you can and have it checked out. If it passes, you''ve found your stone!

Thanks for your help everyone, I did order this stone from blue nile. I had it set in a 18K Contour setting. I hope I like this setting in person, does any one have this? Pics please?

Also by chance if I don''t care for the setting I would LOVE to get it set in the Vatche Royal Crown setting. (I tried to get blue nile to do a custom setting but they said they could not). Anyhow, there are a few vendors who have this setting, i.e. GOG and Excel. Will they set a stone that was not bought by them into one of their settings? Also is this safe to send out your stone to a different vendor? Any precautions? (This is all new to me).

I know I''m getting ahead of myself since I don''t even have the ring yet, (will not be here until Jan 8th). But I thought I would pose these questions anyway. This is truly a great site!

Thanks again!
Laura

You would need to ask the vendor in your particular case Laura. Here is contact info for GOG and Excel.

Ditto Lorelei, but I imagine GOG would do it no problem (don't know anout excel). It's fine to send the ring, just use the Post Office, registered and insured.

Hi all,

Just wanted to give an update.

I did purchase this stone from Blue Nile. It was beautiful! I took it to an independent appraiser the day after I received it and she said that the stone looked closer the a G in color and a VS2 in clarity. I was stunned. I then told her what the purchase price was and she said I did very, very good. Needless to say I am keeping it. I just wanted to thank all of you for your advise. I really read so many posts here trying to become more knowledgeable and it was very nerve racking to make such a large purchase sight unseen. I so glad of the outcome though! I will try to post some pics tomorrow, as I need to charge the battery in my camera.

Thanks again!

Sorry guys,

Should have did a spell check on that last post...lol
