What do you call this ring style?

I need search terms so I can find a few more examples and pictures from different angles, and I don’t remember for the life of me where I found this ring. I stumbled upon it, saved the pic to my inspiration folder, and forgot to capture the deets.

What would you search for to find this style ring with the cuffed split shank & three vertical stones?

The 3 stone style can be late art nouveau or Art Deco, I’m wondering if maybe also search “medieval style” too as that’s more angular and less ornate than what art nouveau style is.

Thank you @Bron357 Is there also a particular name or something - not so much ‘period’-wise - for this style? Like, it’s sort of a three stone, but vertically set with the split shank. Kinda like how there are clusters, solitaires, etc. to describe those styles, is there some sort of ‘generalization’ like that for this style that I can search for that term?

I'm not sure there is a particular name for the style. A lot of vintage setting were one-offs or made by a single designer. What we have left in the market, are those that survive or are not in individual collections. Its very frustrating!

I used "moi toi bezel" and "toi moi navette" and found a few options after diving down the rabbit hole.

You can stack Sofia Kaufman rings to make a similar look :)

Thanks so much @rockysalamander I hadn’t thought to search that moi - toi style; that gets some good results. :wavey:

It really is like a rabbit hole to try and find similar rings. I wish I could find the original I posted, but have no idea where I saw it, and I didn’t bookmark it. :(

Have you tried a reverse image search?

It wasn’t a PSer’s ring; I just noticed the ‘main monstr’ tag in the picture I posted (in the bottom left), so I searched for that tag and ‘ring’, and found that it was a Pinterest find that leads to an old/dead link on eBay. :(2

So unfortunately that is the only pic, but there is a description for it, which helps looks for other like-designed pieces as well. There really is something about this design that just speaks to me, and I want to draw out some ideas along these lines for a couple of my loose stones for a down-the-road project.

I've never seen a ring in that particular style. Most of the vertical besel set stones I have seen are in antique rings. I don't think there is a specific name for those.

I’ve seen the vertical deco rings referred to as dinner rings, shield rings or just cocktail rings. They usually have more metal around them and are like rectangular navettes.

I think that style is really Edwardian in origin going into the early Deco period (abt 1905-1925).
The majority of them like your photo are more structured in style - they might feature bezels and milgrain, this look went all through the period.
Others are more organic and swirling, these are dating to the early part of the period and might be described as art nouveau.
It's obviously related to toi et moi rings in the sense that two similar sized round diamonds or gemstones are the principal feature of the ring. They are usually worn very flat to the finger, some might call them a panel ring even though they may not be panel like in shape they have the look of a decorative panel. As was commented up higher in the thread they were also called dinner rings. Navette is another term that might be applied.
They are normally larger, a lot of look for less buck I guess due to the arrangement of the stones. If you look at a lot of Edwardian rings (Berganza is a good source for browsing as it has finger models and lots of rings of this era) you will see that many, regardless of style are really huge in comparison to today's taste.
So I don't think other than this there is one particular name for them, not engagement that's for sure!

I definitely think I like/prefer the styles that sit more flat to the finger vs those raised above a bar. I will need to keep that design element in mind as I flush this idea out some more.
