For this year, I''m looking for something different and have seen some hematite necklaces and earrings that I''d love to have. Everything is relatively inexpensive. I did get three necklaces a few weeks back and even as simple small beads, they''ve attracted more attention than my solitaire pendant.

Not sure what else. There''s a bunch of things I''d love to do like reset rhodolite studs into rose gold, but now isn''t exactly the best time b/c we just bought a boat and I want to have money set aside for unexpected expenses.

Oh, and Etsy items are making me drool. (fun little stuff there!)

Everything I want ISN''T involving diamonds, which is rare. I think I''m kinda sick of them.

Ohhh, I think you''re in danger of getting kicked out of PS!!

Seriously though, I do love gemstones too, though I have to say I don''t know what "hematite" is (am still very very much a gemstone novice - so it''s so nice for me to see all the different kinds on the Coloured Stones thread - both entertaining and educational).

Congratulations on yr new boat. How exciting!!!

My DH is an avid sailor, and I''m sure he''d lurve to get one at some point.

Ditto Etsy!

Thanks Phoenix!

Haha, I should clarify that I''m graduating Medical School in 2012, not undergraduate.

Sally finished my tsav lotus, posted some pics in the CS projects thread, but will definitely be taking many photos when I get it in person!

Sorry about chinese customes, I can relate. Haha, my parents get around it by having me bring them stuff when I go visit. They''ve already sent me a list for things to bring this Christmas. Once I brought a projector for a home theater, and the airport security people were like..."uh, what IS that?". And I don''t know how to say "projector" in chinese, so I told them it was a fancy dvd player, haha.

Soon-ish:
- Diamond bezel pendant (.75 ct or so) or DBTY necklace--leaning toward the latter
- An in memoriam piece with part of the money I received in my grandfather''s will (I''m thinking I may just combine this with the first project, but not sure yet)

Long-term:
- Stud upgrade (to 1.2 ctw or so)
- Marquise and RB bezel eternity band to wear on the other side of my e-ring--I want to wait for a suitable "celebration" occasion for this

The only thing I have going is that JKT is making me a "Katie" ring with a 1.34 ct green tourmaline.

Going to Intergem tomorrow though so who knows what might happen!
31.gif

ohh i want to play too please!!

my major only project going on: MY ENGAGEMENT RING!! :D

i''m so excited! my bf is giving me a lot of control over what i want, and he''s so sweet because he says he wants me to have something that will make me deliriously happy :)

what i''m thinking is a 2ct cushion with a very thin micropave band with surprise garnets (my bf''s birthstone) and engraving inside the ring. if anyone has any other ideas, please shout out :D

from lurking around, i''ve already contacting Mark at EngagementRingsDirect and he will be looking for something for me when he gets back from DC. I''m also debating who to go to for custom work - stay with Mark or Leon Mege. I LOOOOOVE Leon Mege''s work, but I''ve also heard that Mark does beautiful work as well and his prices are very competitive. any advice on that would be awesome too!

not sure what else to do in the future... we have some heirloom stones that we might put together with an older pendant i have to make a necklace. larger diamond studs would also be great too... but im just too excited about my engagement ring to think about anything else :D

My only niece was born Oct. 15th. I have no children. I bought a loose opal and am trying to decide how to set it/with what other gemstones. These are my ideas so far:
1) Sort of set it like the Hope diamond but with fancy yellow diamonds around it
2) Get a diamond or sapphire, and ask Julia Kay Taylor to design something sort of like MakingTheGrades pendant here: Linky

sierraopal.jpg

Right now:
my BGD and JW sapphire anni ring
36.gif

after that:
a 3 stone bezel ring with blue and green gems set in YG, to be made by Julia K Taylor..

after that...who knows
31.gif
11.gif
3.gif

DH and I are starting to talk about a sapphire anny ring...that has been an EC 3 stone, an oval solitaire, an EC sapphire with EC diamond sides, and now it''s an oval or round sapphire with halo...so really, this project is waaaay in the formation stages. Who knows what it will become or how long it will take :)

I think I''m going to show hubby this thread to show that I''m actually quite low maintenence
11.gif

However it is quite fun and vicarious to read the lists!

No short term projects. The only exception is that I''m addicted to semiprecious gemstone earrings, and especially as some of my standbys (like my peridot stud earrings) were lost due to little hands, may break down at some point during the holiday season and buy myself some stud earrings.

Hopefully a medium term project will be getting another necklace for myself. I''m thinking either precious topaz bezel set in yellow gold, or a dbty (demantoids by the yard
21.gif
) necklace, with little round demantoids in bezel stations on yellow gold chain as well.

Long term projects (don''t know when they will happen but want to do them) are: dangle precious topaz earrings, either an eternity band, or gypsy set (i.e. etoile or scattered) band in either diamonds, blue sapphires, or combination of both for my sister, and upgrading my mom''s grandchild pendant to include my 2nd child (who is now 3 year old!)

Short term:

My Gene Grossular Asscher is to be set in a JKT yellow gold bezel setting, design TBD. Likely a replica of my e-ring/wedding set in yellow gold.

Working on finding/designing a setting for my 1.63 ct. cushion Flame Spinel.

Long term:

I want an asscher/carre cut/french cut eternity band. I've been having trouble finding an antique in my size, and I've been looking for over a year.

Pear shaped diamonds to set as dangles from my diamond studs.

A significant sized sapphire (3 ct.+) for a 3 stone ring with step cut traps.

Valerie Naifeh, a local designer, is doing some preliminary drawings for me for a pendant, using one or more of the loose stones I have - a 3 carat shield cut rhodolite garnet, a 6.3 carat checkerboard cut cushion amethyst (with amazing color), and/or an eight carat step cut pear shaped citrine. I''m going to let her do her magic because I love her work. She might add a pearl, or make the drop part removable/interchangable. Her work is gorgeous. Of course, I''m in flinch mode to hear the price, but first things first....can''t wait to see the drawings!

OK, I'll play!

IN PROCESS:
BGD reset for my 2.36 RB (YAY!)

SHORT-TERM:
Sterling silver key with a li'l baby diamond by JKT

LONG-TERM/MAYBE/HOPEFULLY/BUT NO PROMISES!
2.gif

A blingy 5-stone RHR
Upgrade my studs to over 2ctw
Dip my toes into the colored stones waters and lord help me then!

Just completed:
-Rose gold hydrangea ring from Patrick Irla
-gray spinel from Barry in tapered baguettes setting
-Wedding bands purchased

In Process:
-Something coming from Barry

1-2 months:
-A super special gift coming from a dear friend by our beloved JKT that will incorporate all kinds of stones (NINE in total)
-I think that FI is getting me jewelry for Christmas/wedding presents

Within a year:
-Setting a teal tourmaline into my fishtail setting
-Setting loose stones: hot pink spinel from John B, Darth Vader spinel from Dan, big white tourm cushion from Barry, periwinkle spinel oval from Barry, a baby lavender spinel from Barry, a bigger light pink spinel and my funky colored garnet from Peter.
-Assuming my dad gives me my mom''s diamond ring, reset that into something fabulous, platinum and make it starset
-Set a yellow princess/square cut stone into her original setting, maybe Chrysoberyl
-Set my precious topaz in 22-24kt gold

Long Term:
-Find 3ish ct cushion hot pink spinel (this is very long term)
-Obtain 2-3ct OEC/OMC/Trans diamond, as low a color I can find, set into a ring
-get a super light purple amethyst cut into a cushion, 5-6cts and put in a delicate halo ring
-Granny Smith apple peridot (2cts) ring
-Large emerald cut, don''t know variety of stone yet
-Asscher
-Pick up fun stuff along the way
-Gray/silver pearl pendant
-Gray/silver pearl ring w/ diamond sidestones

Wow!! Everyone has such beautiful and amazing projects coming up!!

Wow Phoenix, that's quite a list!

I'm not craving too much these days .. I should be getting my e-ring soon (but that's not in my power
37.gif
). I'm getting a sterling byzantine bracelet as an Xmas present. I want to buy a smaller (.25-.50 ctw) pair of diamond studs from a vendor who offers upgrades (would eventually like to end up around 1.5 ctw). I want something with Tahitian pearls, but I'm not sure if I want a necklace or bracelet. Oh, and a tri-color rolling ring.
Oooohhh, your list is not so small either, esp since yoyu're still young (which I'm guessing that you are, since you're not even engaged yet)!!

Good luck with yr ering. I hope you get it soon and pls don't forget to come back and post pics, so we all can drool over it!
1.gif

Yeah, def get the studs from a vendor with an upgrade policy. DSS will set in before you even know it!
31.gif

I ADORE Tahitian pearls. I'd recommend going for a necklace, since you can then show them off to everyone a bit more easily!

I also love the Cartier tri-colour rolling ring. It's such a statement and a forever piece.

I''ve got a couple of things in the works.
31.gif
The fact that they''re happening at the same time is quite by accident, but hopefully they''ll compliment each other.
Care to share more?!!

Sounds so exciting!!

Soon-ish:

Get another Lucida band to go on the other side of my e-ring.

Later:

Have the sidestones from my original wedding set made into a bezel set band a la Tiffany Jazz. I also have my promise ring with a .50 diamond that I want to incorporate into this ring so I may have to dis-assemble my eternity band and/or one pair of my studs and use some of those stones for an alternating stone look for the bezel band.

Sally is making me a gold and ruby toe ring as well as setting a ruby in to a bezel set ring. We''ll also be working on a design together for a bangle with rose cut diamonds and moonstone cabs after Christmas. It will most likely be more of a cuff than a bangle with lots of curves, just don''t have the exact idea yet.....

You ladies are so creative and have such beautiful projects planned!

Here''s what I have in the works:

I just paid the balance to Whiteflash for a platinum, 5 stone band with .35 diamonds (1.75 tcw.) It''s a beautiful trellis design modeled after the ring that KTIceRN posted for her friend. I started this ring project in May but just now got to it. The ring has a tiny surprise diamond melee inside with my daughter''s name engraved. I should have it in a couple of weeks. I''ve attached pictures of the CADs.

Long term:

I am looking for a beautiful, deep, vivid aquamarine to set in a halo ring setting.

Current(ly)
Working on stringing pearls and playing with those :)
I finally got a strand to make my 2 strand wedding bracelet, and then my necklace... I've been working on many of those.
I am also re-stringing the necklaces for the bridesmaids

Less than a year
Plain plat wedding band (I CANNOT decide on what I want)
Diamond Studs- more than .66ctw and budget wise prob less than 1 ctw
Upgrade my diamond pendant--- if I can ever find it
15.gif
15.gif
15.gif

More than a year++
New setting for both diamond rings
Set my sapphires and citrine
Tahitian baroque necklace or set.. and hopefully sooner than later
Really, an unlimited amount of things
Diamond Wedding band- maybe with sapphires, maybe a 5 stone... maybe not.. I have no idea.. I've been considering a cheaper plat diamond and sapphire WF band just for some sparkle after we are married
33.gif

ETA I also would like to get a few more OEC's and then EVENTUALLY I'd like to own some asscher studs.......... and would like a diamond in every shape. hehehe But that's like WAY long term :)

Phoenix, I envy your project list!

Here's mine

In Progress

:
new wedding set from BGD/Mark Morrell. Not completely certain of timing here - Mark is designing a band and I am not sure how long it will take once he shows me his design... ooo but it will be worth the wait!

Wish list:
diamond and ruby eternity band
new diamond studs (preferably from BGD)

Oh no. I didn''t know you lost your diamond pendant. I hope you find it!

I love hearing what people are doing with pearls. I would love to do something creative with my strand. I feel like they''re a little too stepford wif-ish to wear on a regular basis (probably because I dress pretty boring to begin with . . . I find I need interesting jewelry and accessories to spice me up:-)

I also just purchased a 5 carat antique cushion cut diamond, and the setting is being made!!!!! Should be done in a couple of days.

Yeah

I was trying to secretly find it before FI asked where it was.. It is nowhere to be found. I normally only put it in a few places if I am not wearing it, and it''s like it vanished. FI found out and helped me look for it instead of making me feel bad
5.gif
But his new saying is (jokingly), "And this is why you can''t get any more jewelry.. you''ll just lose it in less than a year!" hah.

Maybe one of the cats ate it..

OOOOH! I almost forgot one other thing...

LONG TERM: a RHR made with one of GOG''s AV cushions!!! YOWZA!!!

I'm sorry too, to hear you've lost yr pendant, swedish bean.

How's earring project going? I'd love to see pics of what you've found or seen.

I am quite partial to Tahitians. I can't wait to see yr necklace once you;ve got it. And yeah, I'd love some asscher studs too, but I think my DH would divorce me if I mentioned that they were on my wishlist too, ha ha!

Check out the Pearls threads. I''m sure you''ll get plenty of ideas there. I too find them a bit too formal for everyday wear, but if I wear something casual and want to dress up a bit, I''d wear my coloured freshwater pearls. Check out my lavender and peach strands that I wear together (towards the end of the page):

I can''t wait to see pics of your new 5ct antique cushion. Sounds totally awesome!!
