Yes, they are a fabulous color!!! We seem to have travelled the same color path, Smith. I went from only French manicures (one or two a year) to jag-u-are during the holidays last year. It's a fire engine red. babymonster is rocking a color like it. Your fishnet stockings was close. And Mayk's Big Apple Red. Real reds, not burgundies or pinks or lilacs. (Not oranges or corals....)

I've actually ordered Essie Big Spender after seeing how nice it looks on babymonster.

Yes, weird isn't it, AGBF? No nails or polite nails for ages, and suddenly I can't get 'em bright enough! Maybe you should get one or two new shades, since you only have red The range at Essie is incredible. I ended up buying seven new shades!

This is Essie jag-u-are, but these are not my nails (unfortunately). I found this photo on the Internet. Someone (in Great Britain) was writing a blog on nail polish colors and had chosen jag-u-are to describe, which was interesting. She obviously can see it better than I can, since it is on her nails (not just in the bottle) and she sees some orange in it. Not that there being orange in red is startling. Now I am starting to think of my red spinel and the colored stones thread. Perhaps I had better stick to nail polish here!

I don't think I'm there yet, Smith!!! You are very daring!!! Going to red after having done only French manicures is a big step for me. If I continue to do nails I see myself going back and forth between French manicures and reds. Someday I might consider a burgundy. I saw a very classy woman with a burgundy or wine or plum shade on when I was having my nails done in a salon last year. And, as I told ame, that color would match a Louis Vuitton handbag and belt I bought about a year ago....

AGBF - yes, I can see definite orange tones in Jag-u-are. It's a warm red. Fishnet stockings is a cool red, with blue undertones. I like those blue-reds a lot on my skintone. Am going to hunt for some matching lipstick. And I think you should ring the changes and treat yourself to a nice posh burgundy. Perfect time of year for it....and would look fab with your gold jewellery.

Here's today's concoction: Angora Cardi by Essie, photographed with my Deb ring. Blue and orange are opposite each other on the colour wheel, so I reckon shades with burnt orange/brown tones like this go quite well. I am awaiting my order of bright polishes from Amazon, so I caved and bought this shade last night in CVS.

Glossy with no shimmer is flat to me. Some people also call it creme but I think creme describes consistency, as in creme vs jelly, than finish.

That is the Essie cranberry someone was wearing earlier in the posts, I got it on amazon for $4. The one near the blue is an Essie gold or copper, not quite sure.

The two fingers on the left are still wearing Essie Madison Ave but the two on the right have Essie Mod Squad. As you can see, there's barely any difference between them. Mod Squad is slightly more neon/dayglo in real life.
