If we are all trying to maximise size with lower color or clarities, do the Hollywood set do that too? I mean if
diamonds are so rare in large sizes do they have the choice? Are they all D Flawless or do they go down to a K SI2 to get a
10 carat as opposed to say a 5 carat D Fl.

There is no way to know really but what do you all think?

Even if they went down in color and clarity, the media would still get it wrong (like how they estimate a 2.5 ct solitaire to be worth like $200K! LOL)... and the celebs would never admit it!

Ha, yes you're right. I'm away to look at the celebrity thread and see if I can judge the color myself from the photos

All of the "A" grade celebs can afford to wear large white stones (no compromise on colour) or huge yellow stones or even large pink ones. The "B" grade celebs are more likely to be seen wearing smaller stones depends on the individual if they compromise on clarity and colour.

And don't forget many wear high end items totally free to events some they get to keep others are just on loan or borrowed for each event..... to advertise that particular jeweller and their work!!!

I'm betting a lot of celeb rings are fakes.

I've been saying this forever, AprilBaby!!!  Especially the D-list celebrities! It seems to me that the "Housewives..." and Kardashian caliber celebrities are always getting these CRAZY big diamonds... C'mon, now!!

I'll betcha they're just like us.
They vary.

For a given budget, say 2 million bucks, some are happy with smaller high color and clarity stones but others go down in color and clarity to get a larger stone.

I wonder how informed they are. Would they know what color and clarity are or do they leave all that to the jeweler.

I think jewelers just charge celebrities more for diamonds. Just like how David Beckham got a bald hair cut for $800.

I agree with both of you... I think the attitude can be "the less I have to do, the better...", "that's not my job", or "I don't have time to worry about that... ASSISTANT??!!"

Also, I think a lot of the celebrities are just lazy/dumb and/or don't care how much they're being charged for stuff... most of them have personal accountants that deal with all of their finances and couldn't even tell you what they're worth (which is why we read about the accountants stealing money from them all the time!! :Up_to_something: ).

Maybe it’s different out here but I’ve got a decent number of celebrity type clients, mostly from the sports world but some from Hollywood or Nashville and NONE of them are either lazy or stupid. Most have a staff that includes people to to assist with this sort of thing and most are accustomed to a pool of sharks trying to take advantage of them because of their names. As Kenny points out, not all celebs are the same just like the rest of us aren’t all the same. Some want size, some want quality, most want a balance and ALL want to pay an appropriate price for what they’re getting.

This warms my heart and makes me think they're not all as dumb as some (ehm, Kardashians...).
