What *bling* would you bribe yourself with?!

Hey PS-ers! I'm currently 7.5wks postpartum and looking to get back on the wagon w/ exercise. I consulted w/ DH about dangling a carrot in front of me for motivation... Initially I floated the idea of a vacation that would involve a bikini and new wardrobe, but his work schedule is too unpredictable to plan that. So, my second idea was a new piece of bling! The current top 2 contenders are: 1. making my 5-stone into an eternity band (Not sure I'm sold on this or that it's practical with babies?) or 2. a solitaire necklace or 3. something else I haven't thought of yet!
So, if you were trying to motivate yourself to achieve a goal (weightloss or whatever), and could reward yourself with a piece of bling, what would you pick?! Any advice/suggestions?!

Can you give an idea of budget? Mine depends on that.
Honestly my eyes are on an opulence oval firstly..

Wow, that's a tough one. My list is sooooo long and I have this bad habit of rewarding myself before I have reached my fitness goals :lol-2:! I have even bought fabulous pieces of clothing that were to tight - "It'll motivate me":roll. Now I focus on bling, bags and fabulous shoes -- because they always fit even if you need to lose 20 pounds.:mrgreen2:

Maybe up to $5k without much negotiation? Could stretch a little bit more for something "perfect". I'm certain the 5 stone/eternity band conversion would cost more than $5k...

So with that budget... if I could get the OO in would but another suggestion that I think could be done is a stone of your choosing bezel set with very thin bangle... someone here has one. I would love this in a well cut AVR or OEC in a low color to maximize size... Easy to wear too.

Congratulations on your new baby!

As an eternity owner and mother of 4, (depending on stone size) I would not recommend turning your 5 stone into an eternity. Kids are sticky. My eternity is large and was very uncomfortable to wear when my kids were babies. Now that they're a little older I can get away with wearing it more, but I still take it off to wash my hands umpteen times a day.

I also haven't worn a necklace or bracelet since becoming a mom. Anytime I tried to wear a necklace, my babies would try to pull it off of me (same goes for dangly earrings). My babies would always want to play with my bracelets, so I ordered teething bracelets for when they were little (very glamorous;-)).

My vote would be for a pretty stacking band (the CvB riviere is on my list), or a pair of studs (or a stud upgrade if you already have a pair).

As an aside, be gentle with yourself. The weight comes off (eventually). Your body just made a miracle.

Has anyone seen that hysterical utube video of a Chinese gent sitting on the tray of a Ute (or similiar) as his wife runs behind it and he is handing her money to keep her running!
I’d choose a CvB band, or two, as they are all stunning,

5k. Hmm. How fun! I'd never have thought of bribing myself. How smart of you. I may steal that thought!

I'd probably go for a diamond solitaire pendant for that budget. It gives you a lot fo flexibility. Especially if you get one with a strong upgrade policy.

@LadyMCh fun dilemma to have! Did you ever recut your original engagement diamond? Perhaps if that is still a possibility - you can recut it and set it in a pendant? I

I'm currently getting a bangle made with 25 pointers (13 stones total, covering only the top of the wrist) for around that price, so it might be something to consider?:P2

Congrats on your new baby! I'm right behind you, with being 3 weeks postpartum myself, and while I personally have NO motivation for working out to lose the baby weight (I know myself too well to attempt this :mrgreen2:), I love the idea of treating yourself with something special.

I agree that necklace, bracelet, dangle earrings will most likely not get worn much, at least for awhile, with a baby so young. I actually tried a small dangle earrings for church on Easter and had my toddler literally rip out out of my ear o_O

I would love diamond studs tho, or maybe a colored gemstone RHR. I was also considering a Cartier trinity ring as a push gift for myself.

Pendant, you can get a sizeable one for that budget. Congratulations on your little one!

Congratulations to you too!

Congratulations on your baby!
Enjoy the precious first time of bonding!
@hmr_mama has very wisely evoked the most important points.
As a mom of five I get the most wear out of bangles and bracelets, however.
What about a Cartier love bracelet ( name is so fitting, too!)?
I've been wearing a dbty bracelet for 4 years without taking it off (except for cleaning) now w/out a problem. I have 5 small kids, so it's definitely mom-approved.
Or a tennis bracelet? At around 5k you could get a very nice size. PS falls into two camps on those, though: some prefer them for dressier occasions only, but some wear their gorgeous pieces 24/7 - I'd be in the latter camp. With young kids any item is basically a no go for me if I have to worry about it/ think about putting it on on the mornings.

This!!

@LadyMCh, Congratulations on your new baby!!!:appl::appl::appl:

I would stay away from anything having to do with rings right now because as your weight decreases your fingers might shrink. Better to stabilize before investing in rings. Even ones you can resize as who needs the hassle right now and you are super busy with your new baby. Love the pendant idea or necklace idea. And to add something else to the mix if you have not yet thought of it...how about gorgeous romantic dangle earrings? Or diamond studs if you do not own studs yet and think you would wear them. Or upgrading your current diamond studs for larger studs. Or gemstone dangles that represent your baby's birthmonth. I could keep going but for now those are my top thoughts.

Congratulations and good luck and I'm with @kipari and @hmr_mama. Be kind to yourself and be gentle with yourself and be good to yourself. You just made a baby woohoo!!!! The weight loss will happen. (((HUGS))).

I’d second (or third?) the idea of a solitaire pendant. But I’d also consider a special signed piece such as a VCA Alhambra bracelet/pendant in that range... or maybe a Tiffany necklace.

Babies/toddlers do like to grab, but we humans have this nifty reflex to protect the head, so I’m confident in your ability to get to your necklace before baby can do too much damage. :lol-2:

Congratulations on the new baby! I have lost and gained (and lost and gained) weight so many times since getting my diamond ring, and I've had it reset a bunch of times because of it. I hope your glorious CVB ring still fits!

I'm having trouble coming up with suggestions (I would worry about fingers changing size in an eternity ring), but you're getting a lot of good ones! I think a solitaire (or halo!) pendant would be lovely.

That's what it would take to get me into running! I loathe it! It just feels so monotonous. I wish I enjoyed it, though.

We talked about it to death but ended up keeping it as is. I just couldn't do it. Too sentimental. DH bought a match for it, so now I'm wearing it as part of a stud earring set.

Yes, the CVB ring still fits! But my 5 stone is too tight currently to wear as a RHR, so I might end up having to get it resized anyway.

@LadyMCh You should find a local Fleet Feet! They are awesome at dragging folks out to run together. Do you have a local running club? It makes all the difference!

Not everyone will enjoy running. Have you tried other activities like cycling or the elliptical? I just love the elliptical and when I want to be outside (weather permitting) I enjoy cycling. But they do have something called the Elliptigo which allows you to to the elliptical outside. I am not that brave so will stick to cycling outdoors. But the elliptical inside is very enjoyable for me so maybe try it if you have not yet tried it.

Actually I do the Arc trainer which is not technically an elliptical. Just fyi.

A little bribe is necessary! In addition to feeling unmotivated because I'm so out of shape, i also don't want to be apart from the baby in my freetime!

There's a stroller workout/run club and a mommy and me yoga class nearby that I'm interested in. And a gym with childcare. Plus we have some stuff at home. It's just getting it done.

i'd go for something classic, a tiffany, VCA or cartier piece. LOVE the tiffany bow rings.

just thought i'd mention too to be careful getting back to exercising. i injured my knee badly when i started exercising after having my 2nd child 3mo PP. My doc said it was due to the prolaxin still in my body from pregnancy, that my joints were still VERY loose. It took over 6 months for my knee to heal. So be VERY careful with anything high impact.

Yes for sure. Just getting started is often the most difficult part. If you can bring baby that helps. As @farrahlyn wrote you definitely want to start gently and with low impact activity which is not running at least for now. Baby (haha) steps. Good luck.

Yikes! Good to know! We have talked about taking a trip to our local T&C. I'm a pretty lucky lady as DH bought me a Cartier trinity ring last fall to celebrate us becoming a family of 3 while we were on vacation in Portugal.
