What are your thoughts on how government is handling COVID-19

Oh, and no one's coming for your food, don't worry. It's your toilet paper they want. Stock up on ammo and guard that TP with your life!
I have plenty of both...:praise:

Wow a NYC man who was a perfect candidate for donating his antibody rich plasma was turned away because he is gay (though he was abstinent for the required 3 month period which IMO is unnecessary due to the evolution of advanced testing).

Luckily after his post went viral a NYC hospital called him up and got his blood donation.

Imagine that. I believe a couple of us said a few weeks back this would be a problem when Congress wouldn't approve the amendment to the act to limit the amount to 100% of salary.

How freakin' stupid! And lawmakers were aware that this would be a problem but thought this would get relief funds out faster. Thought? How about figure out a way that makes sense AND get timely relief out?

I'm grappling (ethically) with our stimulus checks, and not because of Trump's signature -ours were direct deposit fortunately. My husband and I are lucky to not be in need. I can't stimulate the economy with these funds because there's nowhere to go but the supermarket. And even if there was, I wouldn't go. I'm socking it and anything else I can save away; hoarding money like toilet paper!

Makers of Lysol Warn Against Ingesting Disinfectants
Reckitt Benckiser, the maker of Lysol and Dettol, and the authorities in Washington State said in separate remarks that people should not ingest or inject cleaning products. Industry officials echoed the warnings.

That image is like a mirage to me. I haven't seen a fully stocked shelf of disinfectants in I don't know how long!

There's a huge movement in my community that I've donated to several times if you feel funky about keeping the money. We've been raising money to spend at local restaurants to send food to all essential workers. In the last month we've raised and spent 50k at all local restaurants to deliver food to hospital staff, post office staff, grocery workers, pharmacy workers, nursing homes, urgent cares, veterinarian offices, basically anyone who's still open and serving the public. You could always do something like this, the restaurants/workers would be more than happy!

I don't know if this was about Andy Cohen, but he said the same thing on his show last night. Even though there's a rapid test they can do to check for HIV infection. So stupid.

I was waiting for Dr. Birx to come to the microphone and say do NOT listen to him. Do NOT try this. It’s hard to believe that a US President would act so irresponsible.

This is yet another example for why I ask PSers If they actually listen to Trump’s press briefings.

And Dr Fauci, the one person who might have actually said don't do this, wasn't there.

I have been an activist supporting your approach in Melbourne Australia and been widely reported - google daily mail, 3AW and National 9 news.
You are wrong - your next wave in USA will create such a strong case for China to say democracy fails.

As I've posted before Darwin's survival of the fittest may not apply to just biology, it may apply to political systems.

Perhaps people should not be free when their stupidity harms others.

Apparently neither of the Dr's are at the briefing today. And no question and answer period.

I was surprised too by how quickly they hightailed out of the room.

Dr. Brix reminds me of a battered woman who is afraid to tell the truth for fear of what the repercussions will be later when she is alone with her abuser.

@Daisys and Diamonds what's your take on your really strict restrictions?

Yay or nay?

They are too drastic for me (can't order books online??? Wtf!!!) but I know I'm a bit more relaxed than most. Curious to hear what you and possibly anyone else you know thinks.

Unfortunately, despite the supposedly sterling reputation she had before joining this task force, she is no longer reliable. A woman with a mindset similar to that of a battered woman, always on the lookout for how to avoid the anger of the man she dare not offend, cannot tell us the truth. For a very long time now I have felt that I would never hear the truth from her in Trump's presence unless it happened to coincide with whatever he was selling at the moment.

Many people have said that Trump brings people around him down and ruins reputations. So far Dr. Fauci has been holding his own, seeming unintimidated by Trump. Let's hope he stays in the ring.

I can't imagine anyone admitting on their resume that they worked for tRump ... president or not.

I guess she dosen't know that CVS, target and wallyworld sell acetone? :roll2:

The mayor of a southern Texas city apologized for violating her own stay-at-home order after a photo surfaced on social media of her at a nail salon.

The trip Tuesday by Beaumont Mayor Becky Ames to the closed salon has sparked an investigation by the district attorney.

In the image, the mayor is seen wearing a face mask as she's seated at a table with her hands in a bowl of water. According to NBC affiliate KBMT in Beaumont, the photo was taken at The Nail Bar.

Multiple calls by NBC News to the salon on Saturday were not immediately returned.

The photo sparked backlash from people who criticized the mayor for disobeying her order in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. On Thursday, Ames issued an apology saying she had a "lapse in judgment."

Oops. Well that was epically stupid and an abuse of privilege.

My two favorite parts:

"I promise there was no malice intended," she wrote in a statement. "I should never have entered the salon last Tuesday. I did not intend to take personal privilege while asking others to sacrifice and for that I am truly remorseful."

Uhhh... actually, that's EXACTLY what she did.

Ames concluded by asking for forgiveness. "As an elected official I am held to a higher standard, I regret my action that day. I am honestly sorry and I pray that you will forgive me," she said.

No higher standard needed to be held to here, just the SAME standard that EVERYONE ELSE is being held to.

Stuff like this makes me SO mad! And then when ordinary citizens do the same thing, the official goes out there and makes a stink. We ALL need to behave right now!
