Speaking of aquamarines, I scored a nice pair of 5 mm aquas from Yvonne today. These guys are going into her argentium silver floral studs.

Haha I saw those on her page today and wondered if it was the same Leslie from PS :)
They look nice. Is Yvonne's argentium silver the same as her platinum silver, or is it the "regular" (lower price) silver? I have a chrysoberyl of hers to set, and I'm considering which silver metal I should go with.

Yep, it's me, Voce :-) I got the only 5 mm size pair she had, the rest were 4 mm. Argentium and platinum silver are two different things, I believe. Argentium helps to slow the tarnishing of silver, if I understand correctly. Platinum silver has a very small amount of actual platinum in the mix. I'm under the impression that it's a bit sturdier than sterling. I would ask Yvonne for a more precise answer re the setting of your chrysoberyl. I would go for the platinum silver, myself, it's only slightly more expensive than sterling. Yvonne carries some very pretty chrysoberyl and sphene, too bad it makes me look like I'm in liver failure!

An actual NEON 5.5 mm small spess from Lindi Tanzania and a big beautiful Nigerian spessartine.

Love these! I saw some 4 mms in her sold section. I’m actually amazed how much colour there is in such small ones. Most are so washed out.

84325ECA-E3B2-47A5-A018-A7C719FC8404.jpeg Got these back, and the ones with dark inclusions switched. I am so so thrilled.

But I can’t decide on how to set theses. I was thinking just a chain of simple bezel dangles. But I am also wanting to go with hexagons with milgrain. In 18k YG, would that be too “fancy”? What would you choose? Other suggestions?

Can not wait to see how this turns out! Keep us updated :Up_to_something2:

Thought this will amuse you ladies.

Kid had Book Week at school where we order books through the school to raise money for the school

Anyways one of the books he ordered was a book about gems and it included a box of gem samples.
hehe for Ruby they gave us a piece of zoisite and told us the dark bits in it were ruby. I was very amused but the little man was not! He was offended even when I explained to him that he only paid $20 for the book and samples so no one was going to give him a ruby.

He was also highly offended by the tourmaline sample which was dark and grayish. He was expecting the usual tourmaline colours!

I love that rubellite tourmaline, rare gemstone lover! The cutting of the stone helps amplify the amazing bright pink color :-)

Thank you Leslie! I’ve seen some amazing Congo tourmalines, very few rare ones like this and the cutting made it look like a spinel!

It’s one many of you may recognise from long back. It belonged to Katharath originally who sold it couple of years ago and then that person listed it. She worked with Yvonne on this one and never having owned one of her creations I’m very excited to receive it. I’ll get it on Monday because the seller was kind enough to ship it via FedEx.

Here it is :)

Woah what a fabulous acquisition!:love:

Thank you I can’t wait to see it! I saw this in the thread (below) and got introduced to mahenge spinels through it two years ago. I had no idea how obsessed I was going to get with them! But I never ever found a gem like this one so I just find it incredible I got it! It was on LT for 22 minutes when I saw it.

Wow, how lucky that you were the one that got the ring that introduced you to Mahenge spinels. It really is super saturated and just gorgeous! Thanks for sharing the thread, I enjoyed reading the story behind this ring! :kiss2:

Good thing that you saw this beautiful Camellia ring first, or it would have been mine :-) Congratulations to you on scoring such a beautiful piece!

So glad you got this! As someone who has bought some preloved mahenges from Katharath, I know she has a good eye for the nice ones. In fact, I had purchased spinel melee from the same Jeff Davies batch on her recommendation and was thrilled I did. Can't wait to read your opinion IRL.

I would love to see the ones you got from her! Did you get some of her bezels?

I really admired her collection when I joined PS. She had impeccable taste. In fact she also had a luc yen lavender spinel I’ve been dying to get but it seems Someone bought it in her sale at the same time. Now I’ve started a hunt to find that kind of lavender!

WOW...that's bright!

Thank you ! I can’t wait to receive it. I actually commissioned this one and the rough was really pretty but risky. Am glad it paid off because the commissions always make me nervous but that’s also how I have gotten some of my best stuff.

How gorgeous, that color is TDF and the setting is beautiful! Congrats!

That sounds like an exciting project! Where did you find the rough? I have never had anything cut on commission. The results certainly are awe inspiring!
