Hello! Sorry if this might seem like a silly question, but is there a difference between the Uprong style and the Skye band style settings from Whiteflash? (for a five stone ring). They seem to look the same, but Chris from WF told me that they are different.

Thank you!

Please post the links to the settings. I see the Skye U-prong but don't see the other one.

They are different. I own a U-prong ring, and I once had a Skye ring made (changed to Trellis later). Basically, the differences I notice are as follows:

1. Skye is more substantial (has more metal). Band is slightly wider. The U-prong looks and feels "daintier".
2. In Skye, the shank curves in towards the end stones in the shape of a circle, whereas in U-prong, the shank cirves like a lady's waist (think neck of vase).
3. The back (inner) side of Skye has holes underneath diamonds.

I am attaching photos to show differences.

Both are beautiful, and it is a matter of personal preference.

Hope my input helps you decide.

Forgot to mention another difference.
4. The cups holding the stones are more of U-shape in U-prong. Those in Skye flare outwards more.

Another photo showing holes underneath stones in Skye.

Hi , this is extremely helpful! It was hard to notice the difference between the two, until you pointed out the intricate details. :)

Can I ask why you changed your Skye to a Trellis? Was it a comfort thing, or too much metal? Also, do you know whether having the holes on the bottom of the Skye band helped the scintillation of the diamonds in any way?

Thank you!

So is Kcoursolle's ring the Uprong or Skye band?

Skye is similar to U-prong which I already own. The more delicate and graceful Trellis is much different, and is something that I did not have at the time. I think all three settings, Skye, U-prong, and Trellis are great-looking and comfortable. All three have open sides to allow full visual (maximum blink and diamond coverage) and easy cleaning. Some people may prefer the more substantial Skye, while others may opt for the other two more delicate settings. Choice depends on personal preferance.

Don't know if the bottom holes make any difference. 1. The sides are exposed/open in all three settings, so there is enough surface for capturing light. 2. All my diamonds are ACA's, so they madly sparkle, scintillate, and shoots off fire anyway.

Her ring is Skye. From her thread, she mentioned Skye was named after her husband.
