Typing this while on the treadmill...

I have to take it slow as my heart rate elevates quickly. Cardiologist has cleared me for exercise but wants to see my hr stay under 160. I'm doing what I can and also scheduled to see weight loss specialist through the hospital at the end of this month. I need help finding exercises that are good for me (185 bpm after just 6 minutes at 2mph) and how to get my body to ramp up to more. I continue with finding ever healthier swaps for food. My current favorite is cauliflower in everything. Had mashed cauliflower with roasted carrots and a bit of lean beef for dinner last night. Definitely one to do again!

Current weight is 265.4 and I want to hit 250 by my birthday March 5. Bigger goal is to hit 200 by graduation in June.

@TooPatient, good on you for finding exercises you can do and finding healthy alternatives . Love mashed cauliflower :lickout:

I'm currently at 215 and need to get down to 160 or so which is still technically overweight for my height but you know, baby steps. Starting working on eating healthier this week but haven't been exercising so need to work on that. The frustrating thing is I really need to cut all carbs and dairy to really lose weight but for now I'm just working on not eating all the junk and cutting my portions.

I've lost 22 lbs via weight watchers and Peloton cycling at my home! Slowly but surely. Good luck to you.

@Queenie60 nice work!

@StephanieLynn baby steps! The only changes I have been able to stick with are done in small steps and don't leave me feeling like I am missing out. You can do it! Post any cool finds and anything you need suggestions for!

I think everyone here is focused on positive changes & are doing well :appl:

And I’m sure with regular but gentle exercise, you will find your BPM staying lower whilst you are able to train for longer. Well done to you!

I joined a Gym at New Year due to developing Morton’s Neuroma in both feet, from too much concrete running in tight shoes. My Physio has been working hard over the past few months, but I know my waist has thickened & I feel a bit softer. I’m hoping the Gym will really transform not just my waistline, but also shoulders, arms & help with general muscle tone. I’m 45 in June & whilst people are always quite shocked & put me around 37, i’m conscious now of all over body strength rather than just being lean & fit. So the problem with my feet may turn out to be a blessing in disguise? I went twice last week (children still off school, so hard to fit in) but from tomorrow it will be 3 times a week, replacing my staple Mon, Wed & Fri morning runs. I sometimes squeak in an extra run at wkends, but again this will be replaced by the Gym. And I was actually able to run a 5k on the spring loader in the Gym both times without issue, so I expect I won’t be cutting back too much on that!

Also, have you tried cauliflower with butter beans in a mash? We eat heaps of this & it’s really easy. A small cauli will serve 2. Chop it down into floret sizes, chuck it into a pan of boiling water with a 400g tin of butter beans. Boil for 15 mins, drain, mash (should be textured & lumpy though) grind in some black pepper & a 25g sprinkle of grated Parmesan. I serve with with Linda McCartney veggie sausages (IMO these are the tastiest) some steamed greens & a dash of gravy for moisture. It’s such a healthy, low carlorie, nutritious meal. We are huge meat eaters in our house at dinner time, so at least 2 dinners each week I make a veggie option.

I finally reached my goal this year...it was a very long journey for me, I hit my lowest last month at 103 lbs..however I gained 3 lbs during the holidays so current weight is 106...my maintaining goal is 105, so I will get back on my diet/maintain wagon for the rest of my life. I am currently walking approximately 3 miles a day 5 days a week, average steps are usually between 11,000 to 17,000 a day depending on the day. I eat very little I have a very slow metabolism so I just starve all the time lol, on a very happy note for me anyways is I am off all my diabetic meds, I am type 2 and still am however I am able to maintain healthy blood sugar levels due to diet and exercise!

This sounds good! I never had cauliflower mash..and one friend of mine keeps telling me it tastes like mashed potatoes..I’ll give it a try this week!

My birthday is today and it’s a big one..eeek! My hubby is taking me out for dinner for Italian..so I’ll get the chicken with a small side of pasta and eat half of that. I’m going to stock my fridge today for tomorrow. I can’t do WW..If I have to count points I’ll scream..but I do have a very good idea what calories to stay away from.

This! A birthday is time to enjoy yourself and not think about the scale.

Happy birthday!

Have any of you seen the intermittent fasting thread? https://www.pricescope.com/communit...-is-anyone-doing-intermittent-fasting.242458/ If not, I recommend skimming through it and I strongly recommend reading Jason Fung's book The Obesity Code, Unlocking the Secrets of Weight Loss regardless of whether or not you choose try IF.

What is excellent about Fung's book is the knowledge he imparts about insulin resistance, why most diets fail, why we tend to regain all lost weight and add on a more pounds all backed by some impressive long-term studies. Here's the TOC from the book:

Screen Shot 2019-01-06 at 11.34.15 AM.png

I've lost 65 lbs since July doing the 16/8 method of IF and light to moderate exercise and just last week hired a personal trainer for intense weight training to tone and get rid of the last 5 lbs.

Happy Birthday @Mamabean!

@Matata definitely going to look into that book although IF doesn't work for me for some reason but still looks like lots of good information apart from that.

This is my trainer and his fiancee. They're competitive natural body builders (no hormones/drugs). He's literally whipping my butt into shape in the gym and Emily does my nutrition plans. My goals are simple -- I want my butt lifted off of the back of my thighs and I want 2-pack abs. Well, ok, I'd like to look like Emily. I'd settle for looking like one of her arms or legs :mrgreen2:

I joined a weight loss/heathy living challenge at a local gym that is very close to my house. I did the orientation today. “Before” pictures and a crazy body scan that took all sorts of measurements. It is only for 7 weeks, so I’m hoping that I like this gym and will want to join! I have about 30 pounds to lose. I’d love to lose about 12 or 15 during this challenge, then lose the rest in a more gradual way that is sustainable long-term.

I’m going to start running again in two weeks. I had my microblading touch up done last Thursday and my tech told me wait two weeks. For some reason it hurt even more than the first time even though the session was shorter. So I definite don’t want to go through that again soon.
Also, I don’t know if it will work but I decided to try this keto supplement. I just purchased it from a friend who does it and her results were amazing so I figured I would do a 20 day trial.
It seems simple enough. You just drink one pack a day with water and that’s it. No change in diet unless you want to.
I’m currenlty 130 lbs. and would like to be about 120, ideally 117 lbs. I’m 5’2 or 5’3.

Two days on the treadmill done. Just have to keep with it during the week!

My refrigerator is full of zucchini, brussel sprouts, carrots, mushrooms, and tomatoes. Mandarin oranges for any sweet craving. Dark chocolate covered espresso beans counted into bags for a chocolate treat with only 50 calories.

I have no before pictures. That is a cool idea since so much is the shape and tone of the body and not just the number the scale displays.

I hope you enjoy the gym! I read your post in the other thread and it sounds awesome.

This weekend was a bit of a challenge, SIL was here Saturday and we were out shopping so ate lunch at Panera which isn't my ideal. Then birthday party yesterday and the food served was either Mexican or Italian so the best choices were the pulled pork and veggies with a salad on the side, I did have a piece of cake but ate healthy the rest of the day.

Getting back on the treadmill this week after a year off, because despite cleaning up my diet there probably won't be much change weight-wise without some exercise. I have Polysystic Ovarian Syndrome and losing weight seems to be an uphill battle between that and my upcoming 40th birthday
