I had a busy day and just had time to skim, but sounds like everyone is doing great!

Marcy, I always enjoy your posts! Congrats on just eating half of your (yummy sounding) breakfast meal. I like that tip you gave the other day about eating only half of restaurant food. I am trying to adopt that habit!

Skippy, I hope your knee feels better. That's so tough - keep us posted!

Danielle, you shaved 5 min off your time from memorial day weekend until this race? That is AWESOME! That is a minute per mile!!! You should be really proud. Seriously, that's an accomplishment. I am not build like a runner either - I'm tall but I have a bigger frame and right now carrying a few extra pounds too - and I train and train but will probably never get the times that the "natural" runners get. Just like you said I love it and it is a great challenge. I love it when my times improve from one race to another. Re: your practice runs being faster, are they on the treadmill? If so, I find I can often go faster on the treadmill than outside b/c of the pulling effect the treadmill has (it takes a bit of the work away from you since it keeps trucking along), also the ability to control your exact speed, and b/c the gym is air conditioned vs outside. So if you are slower outside than the treadmill, don't worry that's perfectly normal! Oh, and don't worry I didn't think you and Dani (with the pink peonies) are the same person - I think she also pops into the WWT from time to time :)

Rod, congrats on looking hot in your new shirt!

Mara, glad you enjoyed today's race! Those pancakes sound great.

So I had a really fun weekend that was also really healthy eating and exercise wise. Went for a 1 hr run yesterday with my dog, and a 90 min bike ride with DH (with lots of hills) today! Lots of fun. I love exercising outside. We went to the gym Fri also. Ate super healthy with the exception of last night, we tried an italian restaurant with our good friends - they love the place but we weren't that impressed. The service was very slow and the food was good but not as good as I had hoped given the price and hype. Plus, the service was so slow we missed the movie we were plannning to see! Oh well. So I had some pasta which was prob not low cal but I didn't finish it, and the rest of the weekend I ate very healthily!

Heres to a great week all!

I''m setting hear yawning so I guess I''d best get to bed soon.

Shortblonde, I am glad your gloves helped prevent blisters this weekend. It sounds like you had a fun and busy weekend. I did enjoy my cake, thanks. I wanted to have something nice for my DH since he’s been out camping all weekend.

Skippy, I patiently grew out my hair once so it was all one length and hated it. The layered haircuts look the best on me. I might try long, straight hair next winter – it will help keep me warm.

Gail, eating only ½ of my food in restaurants has worked well for me. We eat out probably more than we should. Pasta isn’t that bad as long as you stay away from the really good stuff like alfredo. That’s my favorite anyway. Sorry you had bad service for your dinner. We always say you can’t get both good food and good service in this town. Usually it is bad service so luckily our food is usually good. Another thing we will do is split something. My husband will get an appetizer which I might eat a bite or 2 off – depends on what it is then we’ll split something like a burger or pasta dish. It sounds like you had a great weekend with a good deal of exercise. Yeah!

I hope everyone has a great, healthy and fun week. Scale gods, are you listening?

evening all! lots of great check ins tonite...we had a great evening with our neighbors. we headed off to this art and wine festival and walked around for about an hour, it was so warm out even at 5pm, about 80ish degrees in the sun which felt way hotter for whatever reason. and my poor neighbor is like 8 months preggo and so she is so warm to begin with all the time, she is just such a trooper though. never complains at all. she makes pregnancy look so easy.

at the art and wine festival there was some company giving away free soy sampler size yogurt ice cream..they sell this brand at whole foods or TJ's, i can't remember, it's called purely decadent or something. anyway they were giving the peanut butter chocolate one away, and MAN it was really good. it was a small size, probably 1/2c and 170 cals and 4g fiber and 3g protein. not too bad for a dessert. so i will have to check it out at the store at some point.

then we went to dinner at trader vic's which is this really fun polynesian restaurant locally here. it's kind of a chain as there are a handful of them all over the world, but they are not chain in the sense of TGIF or anything like that. they are pretty far and few between...and their claim to fame is their huge fabulous drink menu which is mostly all rum and frou frou hawaii type fun drinks. we love their drinks and the food is actually VERY good as well so we like going there every once in a while and indulging a bit...!! we all shared some appetizers and then for 'dinner' i had the sea scallop salad which was really tasty...just 4 seared scallops with arugula, a bit of feta, and some asian ginger vinaigrette on the side. and then i had crab cakes as well on the side, which i ate 3/4 of. i had two REALLY yummy drinks and both greg and our friend/neighbor's husband had FIVE each, they are so funny...they are like two peas in a pod with their personalities, and she and i are the same way so we all get along great. at this point i was pretty full but since the boys got dessert drinks (hot buttered rum in these huge skull ceramic containers!), we got a dessert sampler which was 4 small sized desserts (cheesecake, chocolate macadamia nut tart, coffee creme brulee, and polynesian bananas with ice cream)...yummy. so afterwards i was definitely feeling really full, like i could pop. hahah.

so we came back home, took P out for a mile walk and now am having some ginger tea and watching US Marshals before bed...gotta love fun summer B movies...hehe. both greg and i are pretty tired...funny because we don't feel too sore but we have walked/run basically 10 miles today...crazy for us. i am sure we'll feel sore tomorrow. i was thinking of taking a day off but now i am not going to because of my super indulgent (yet so yummy) sunday and also since i know i will be in vegas come next tuesday for work thru thursday....i need to stick with my workout regime so that the upcoming travel and vacation doesn't derail me too much.

anyhow, sounds like everyone is doing fabulously and had a great sunday!!! i love hearing everyone's stories about their day, what they did, what they ate etc. has anyone thought about blogging their food?? i am totally hooked on the self.com 'eat like me' blog and she takes pictures of all her food and posts it and talks about what she eats daily and how it stacks up nutritionally and i was thinking that sounds kind of fun and i love the pictures. so maybe i might try it hehee. we'll see.

i'm so sad tomorrow is monday but oh well!! such is life. marcy your cake evening sounded great. skippy good luck with the PT, what a drag for sure...hope you feel better soon. hope everyone has a great morning!
