Hi PSers!
My very first post as a PSer was my ER post, and I asked what kind of band I should get. Many of you said I would probably have to go custom, given the deep curve in the shank of my ER.
So last week FI and I went down to Jeweler''s Row in Philadelphia. We must''ve visited 12 stores or so, trying on bands and getting price quotes for a custom platinum band. The quotes ranged greatly, from $900 to $2500, but *most* were in the 1200-1300 range.
Now, we''re getting kinda down to the wire - wedding''s in less than 3 months, and the budget is a huge concern of ours, as we are paying mostly ourselves (FMIL gave us 1K). Now, we could have put half on a credit card, but we are finally out of credit card debt, and it''s so nice to not have any extra bills, plus it helps us save for the wedding. So we were walking around, talking about which jeweler should do the work (we decided on a place called Harzin, the man there was SO nice, and he seemed very excited for the project. Plus, he was the only one who broke down the estimate... X weight in platinum, X ct diamonds, X for the mold, etc).
BUT THEN we walked into a store called Unclaimed Diamonds, and they had a band that came so close to the curve... I was sitting in there, heeing and hawing about what I should do. The band is WG, .25ctw diamonds. I guess the woman there thought I was heeing and hawing over the price, as she kept dropping it. And dropping it. LOL. When she said, "I can give you two for $425" I think I was sold.
I think it would be nice to have a custom band done in the future, maybe for an anniversary, but for now, these work out well.
Without further adieu...
ER without band: (apologies, some of these are fuzzy, some are kinda greenish looking from the green awning outside my window)
Shoot, need to resize
