I have my wax model. I wanted to post it before we move on to the next stage. I really love it but there might be something I'm missing. It will be hand engraved once it's been cast. What do you think? I will post the inspiration ring for reference.

Also, it won't be 19 grams as I originally thought but it will be a good weight.

It's going to be amazing. Love it! I can't wait to see the final ring!

The only thing I noticed is that on your inspiration ring the side stones seem to be more parallel to the side of the top of
the ring. They form a nice little triangle with a line going off inbetween the side of the top of the ring and the side stone.
In your wax the side stones are not parallel to the sides of the top. They form a liTtle triangle but the line that goes off
from the triangle is not straight (not parallel) with the side of the top of the ring.

Can you make sense of what I am trying to say? It may be a difference between size of the side stones in your ring compared
with your center stone vs. the sizes of stones in your inspiration ring.

I think its going to be amazing when you are done!

Wow. This is going to be amazing. I can't wait to see the final ring.

The wax looks angular compared to the original:
1. The longs sides (north and south side) looks to curve outwards a little (slight concave) in the original
2. The long sides also seem bit fatter or curved outwards in the original.

A picture is worth a thousand words! The picture that chrono posted shows what I was trying to say.

I can see what you mean about the curving out on the side. I want to have the option to wear a wedding band quite flush if the setting doesn't take up too much space on my finger. Would having it curve out stop the flush fitting?

I'm really sorry but I'm not understanding the other point about the sides being too straight. Would someone mind explaining a bit further please?

I think perhaps the meaning is that the original setting "curves" gently across the top, following the natural arc of the finger, while the wax shows that the top is "straighter" and doesn't flow and curve across the finger the same way? That is what I took from it, seeing the photos? It would likely be easy enough to gently arch the metal more on top so that the setting seems to conform more and slightly hug the finger.

ETA: Never mind, now I see what was being referred to, although I still think the arch under where the ring sits on the finger is not as curved as the original - that may be your preference, though, and is perfectly fine! On the top where the red arrow is pointing, if you look very closely at the original setting, it bows outwardly ever so slightly, whereas in the wax, those lines are more straight and not bowed.

It looks like it's not quite as fluid as the original and the top appears to be a little more boxy. It'll be gorgeous, nonetheless.

I understand now :lickout:

How would I explain this to David? I'm not very good at explaining.

Use pictures with a short write-up explaining what you want.

I think partly what is throwing it off is that in the inspiration ring the center stone is not in a perfect 8 sided octagon. The N/S and
E/W sides are longer than the angled sides they are connected by. In the wax the octagon sides look like they are all the same
Length.

Edit - in the inspiration ring the side stones are not in perfect octagon's either. The sides that connect with the center stone are
longer and the opposite side is much shorter which sort of tilts the bottom of the octagon to make it parallel with the outside
line of the ring.

I hope this is making sense!

I am going to try to attach a crummy picture I did in paint that hopefully will help you understand what I'm trying to say...

I wonder if it makes a difference because my diamonds are smaller than the inspiration photo. I see what you mean about the octagon sides. Would they look bad if they were left as they are on the wax?

No, I don't think it will look bad. I think the engraving will look a little different that's all.
I wasn't sure if you wanted to follow the inspiration to a T or just actually use it for inspiration.

I already think it looks beautiful!

Maisie, I actually like it better than the inspiration ring. The inspiration ring is a little fat to me, for lack of better words to describe it! I really think it is going to be gorgeous! I think I'll be adding another design to my own wish list!

I'm glad you like it DS!

I will just leave it as it is and proceed to casting. Thank you everyone! :appl:
