Its about a disgusting thing that goes on in China with animals.

you have been warned.

I mean, you can read it if you want. I wanted to warn anyone who is feeling vulnerable right now....

heads up

I clicked on it because I thought it was another “I busted my diamond when it fell off in the food processor thread...”

you know: since this is a JEWELRY
Board. :roll2::roll2::oops2:

@whitewave @jeaniefish did warn everyone in her post. I couldn't watch it but I know about what is going on and it is tragic and heartbreaking and you can do something about it. Sign the petition if you are against animal cruelty at the very least. It is upsetting beyond words but we all can do something to change things.

Still. Now I have all of these feelings of despair and my eldest son is getting tested for coronavirus right now.

I don’t need to add tortured dogs to my mind.

there was not sufficient warning in her title.

You know what is difficult to see? A lost diamond that fell out of a setting. The diamond that was shredded in the blender. Etc.

I’m not bitching at you @missy

my stress level is high because my kid is
Hours away in a hot spot and I’m having surgery on Monday.

I am so sorry about your son and I hope he is negative for Covid 19. I totally get it. I just got off the phone with my sister who was crying the entire conversation and she is not a cryer. We are all under stress right now and emotions run high. I am sending you lots of good vibes and hoping you get good news very soon. And good luck with your upcoming surgery Monday.

Just to defend @jeaniefish though I don't think she did anything wrong. I read her post and realized I should not click on ... I would not click onto that video so I cannot imagine the horror you saw. I am very sorry about that. I imagine it is something you cannot unsee. :(

(((Hugs))).

@missy no I’m this stressed and I didn’t click on the video!

@Karl_K thank you

What’s interesting is my son got the brain tickle swab and they told him results take 10-15 mins unless they also did like a flu test and he misunderstood.

he is there in his car which is in a tent outside the testing facility.

@whitewave, hugs and fingers crossed that your son is ok,

The purpose of Hangout is for subjects other than jewelry but I do agree that we don't need to see graphic animal cruelty pics or vids. There are other ways to garner support against cruelty.

Whitewave I understand you are stressed out, but we all have the ability to choose what we read and click on. These animal markets are a problem, and it’s not up to PS to censor posts (within reason) as posted in the Hangout category. Hope everyone in your family will be fine, and maybe if these markets are shut down it will play a part in dangerous viruses not making their way into the world.

My point is she should have put in the title:

China torturing dogs: what you can do

but no. She didn’t do that because she wants link clicks (my supposition).

Now I’m remembering the dog I lost 10 years ago and never got back and how I was worried then (and obviously still worried) that he was captured for medical research.

Thanks for that @jeaniefish I really appreciate the mind**** today. Hope you feel great about it.

I’m signing off. This is completely ridiculous.

I hope I warned enough people who don’t want to see a photo of a dog in a cage and who are struggling right now that they may not even want to open that post.

Xanax time.

Goodbye.

I don't think jeaniefish meant any harm. I'm ok with a thread about this topic. I do think there should have been some warning in the title or a more specific title about the subject matter. A lot of people are under a lot of stress right now and it might just be too much for some.

@whitewave, I'm really sorry about your son being tested and I hope he's ok. (((Hugs)))

I have seen this on other forums, maybe we should introduce a "TW" trigger warning, with a brief description in the title of a thread? IE: TW: animal cruelty?

@whitewave sending buckets of dust and hugs your way. I hope your son doesn't have the virus and stays safe.

@whitewave I didn’t see the post...When I do I won’t click on it to see the video. I have a suspicion I saw the video already...I couldn’t watch it again...
I hope your son is negative...I can understand you must be beside yourself with worry...Please let us know how he is..
I don’t know what surgery you are having...but I hope it goes well...and that next week will be a much less stressful one...Big hugs to you...

Many thoughts and prayers going your way. I hope your son test negative and your surgery goes well.

Dear Whitewave,
I never meant to cause anyone that much distress. I am so sorry that you are having such a difficult time. I wish you had been in a state of mind that would allow you to channel those feelings of outrage by going to change.org and signing the petition that Missy posted . If we all continue to turn away and do nothing, this unspeakable cruelty will continue.
As for a video, I never posted one. I don't even know how to do that. I did post a picture and it is the honest, sad , horrible truth about what is happening to animals every day. Also, IDK what you meant about me wanting clicks or likes or whatever that meant. I am only trying to raise awareness about something that really needs a public outcry to get it to stop. Other PS members have discussed some really difficult issues here. I may have started a thread about the most difficult issue yet. I really am sorry that it was so disturbing for you. I imagine that you also have to be very careful about what you see on the evening news, Facebook, Youtube, etc. I hope that you, your son and your entire family will be safe and well. You will be in my prayers.

I opened it up and quickly shut it down. I just can't right now...thanks for the heads up tho!

Thanks for the heads-up. I do not need to be shocked, horrified, or disgusted but maybe that work for some folks.

@whitewave , I’m hoping your son gets a negative test result quickly and you can relax a little. I’m sorry you are going thru all this and hope things get easier for you. You’re in my thoughts.
hugs, Callie

Thank you for the heads up. I am glad I didn’t open the thread.

Thank you for the warning. It opening it up!

@jeaniefish, I know @whitewave and she is an animal lover too. I'm choosing to believe that she is under an inordinate amount of stress at the moment and not thinking clearly. I believe she would support this cause under ordinary circumstances.

Personally, I am VERY appreciative of the fact that you are bringing this subject to the forefront. I feel just as strongly, if not more so, than you. However, being vegan, I am hyper-aware of my audience, and understand that most people prefer to look the other way and not think about the pain and suffering of other sentient beings when there is little they can do to effectuate change. It makes them feel uncomfortable and powerless, just like it makes you and I feel, to a greater or lesser degree.

I applaud your effort and back you wholeheartedly. <insert heart emoji that PS doesn't have>

Thank you, everyone.

My son is negative (thank god) for coronavirus and positive for strep throat. Never really thought I’d be thrilled for strep but here we are.

Karl, I hope you are breathing better today.

TooPatient, I hope your husband is breathing better today.

Goodnight, everyone.

I never thought I would be cheering strep but I am.

Today was pretty good for the most part.
Got out and did some walking for a few minutes.

Excellent news @whitewave about your son and his having *just* strep. Thinking good thoughts for your gastric sleeve surgery Monday.

@Karl_K glad you are feeling a bit better today. May you continue to improve.

@Karl_K are you on oxygen most of the time? Like when you went for a walk, did it go with you?(pardon me for asking). It must have felt good to get outside for a bit.

@missy thanks. I’m getting my Coronavirus test in about 45 minutes. Yesterday was too soon, and then I have to quarantine myself for the weekend away from everyone until my surgery.

@whitewave, so glad to hear about your son, what a relief! And yes, who would have thought having strep is a good thing.

Thinking of you, good luck with your prep for surgery and take care.

@SandyinAnaheim ,@junebug17 ,@OreoRosies86 , @missy , and any other PS members who understand what I posted and why I posted it: Thank you from the bottom of my heart. This has been one of the most difficult , sad, horrible experiences of my life. But now that I have these images in my head, I have to do all that I can to help these animals.
To @whitewave and any other PS members who are not able to deal with such an ugly truth right now, I understand and hope that you will soon be in a better place ,emotionally and mentally, to at least sign the petition missy posted ( change.org), or to pick up your phone and leave a message at CBS news voice mail : 212-975 3247, to ask for a full report on 60 Minutes to expose these wet markets for what they do to animals and for the threat they pose to humans as well. That’s all I’m asking. Thank you.

@whitewave , this may mean nothing to you as it’s coming from me, but I am so glad to hear that your son has tested negative for this horrible virus and I wish you the best with your surgery. Someone in my family had gastric sleeve bypass and it went very well for him and the resulting weight loss improved his health and his daily life tremendously. I hope it does the same for you.
