I was playing with my microscope and took some photos of Grandma's 1929 engagement ring. The central diamond is a F VS1 transition cut, with a natural on the girdle as the grade-setting inclusion. I thought the natural was super cool looking.
Here's the ring:

Here's the girdle with the natural (and a small chip):

And here are closeup microscope photos of the natural. Isn't it cool? All those right angles!

That is super cool, and it’s a beautiful ring. About what size is the center stone.

That is very cool! The ring is beautiful and so is it's birthmark

That is a beautiful ring!!

Pretty ring. Cool stone.

Beautiful ring. Cool pics.

That is really neat! So what is a natural? Is it a new diamond crystal forming? That’s what it looks like.

What a beautiful ring and cool inclusion! Thanks for sharing!

That's a beautiful ring! I love the setting and the diamond is TDF.

My diamond has a natural too and the vendor pics look similar to yours. I was told a natural is a piece of "skin" left from when a diamond is cut.

I found an interesting article about Natural Inclusions.

Beautiful ring! So cool to have a family heirloom like that.

The ring is beautiful - I love the mounting. The diamond birthmark is so neat and I admire your ability to get close ups of the diamond. I have been trying to take pictures and video of diamonds all day today and it is not easy.

I was using a microscope! I would NEVER be able to get those closeups with just a camera.

Soooo special. I love your Grandma’s diamond so much. I love seeing the texture of the diamond skin against the pristine facet junctions and peering into the depths of that color... I know nothing, but I’ve never seen a natural that looked like a crystal structure. It is a crystal? Enjoy your beautiful ring!

Beautiful ring & cool inclusion. :))

What a beautiful ring - and love the natural! What microscope are you using?
