I have seen a couple of AGS certs for VS2 stones which have an inclusion called a cavity. In most of these, it wasn''t the only inclusion. Are these a problem and should they be avoided?
I''m no pro, but will give you a guess and free bump ... sounds like a polish issue, where one of the cuts is not flat, but with an inclusion on the face. You may want to add where it is, to help the pros assist.
A cavity is exactly what it sounds like. Most likely an included crystal that touched the surface "fell out" during polishing, and indentation left behind was not all the way polished out. The only concern to you is that since is a "surface" inclusion, you MAY be able to see it in "reflected light" without a loupe - say if its on the table or inner crown facets. ..MAY is the key word.
In a VS2, it''s probably a really small cavity too. I would ask the vendor about it. You probably can''t see it without 10x magnification. And I doubt it would cause any durability issues, but again, a professional should be able to make a better assessment. A VS2 graded by a reputable lab almost never has any real issues caused by the inclusions.
make sure you actually saw the symbol for a cavity on the plot diagram and not just in the ledger symbol area. I believe AGS has a ledger symbol in all their certs of all possible inclusions even if the particular cert in question does not contain one of the inclusions in the ledger, a cavity being one example.
