Storm, Im not making fun, but yours looks like a ring that someone on Startrek wears

Beam me up!

Daniel, that''s mostly my fault, storm''s idea was "reversed pave''d dome (round) with sapphire set above it" so it supposed to be half-sphere and very elegant, but i figured that it''s impossible to pave such a surface so i opened it for a jeweler to work on.

He hehe, Daniel if you ever wore high heels you would know that there always a compromise between beauty and ...well, reality check - comfort.

Like a diamond pit, Strm? That's a pleasant thought!

yea.
The idea is that the diamonds would reflect the color of the sapphire giving it a bright sparky colored look.
I think it would be make able but might have to be made in 2 pieces and welded together once the pave is set.
The sapphire would be set up above the bottom row of pave but not over it.

yea.
Shallow concave surfaces paved with diamonds are surely feasible (see below). I have seen one ring similar to the one with the pearl (smaller, same idea). However, those diamonds were not going to reflect anything because they are opaque. Welding paved or near paved elements is one exotic concepts apparently - I know small things can be treated this way with a laser, but... feasibility can be an afterthought up to a point.

Oh well... I surely didn''t behave on this thread.

more bad behavior...

The idea sounds quite intriguing - it could probably be taken off this thread if you wanted Strm

way kewl val
that is pretty close to my concept I sent to Irina because I couldnt draw a full dome.
I also designed one that was the reverse, diamond center with pave rubies on the dome.
A new thread is fine with me if its something you would like to continue :}

i am sooo lol at the queen amidala ring.

Okay I have to say this my first thought when I saw storms ring with the diamonds reflecting the blue sapphire was of a dishwashing soap.

I wasn't thinking SciFi: Strm got me in trouble with this bit because to make the colored bit reflect around, the 'mirror' needs to be bent in a concave shape (not so bad). And that's where the funny cut dome comes from. The section is not cute

I voted for No.2.

If there was a second choice it would have been No.5.

Hahahaha...being a total Star Wars dork (thanks to my FI) that is just hilarious.
