my Tacori setting finally came in today (after 8.5 weeks!) and we dropped the stone off at the jeweler to be set this week

. i didn''t look at the setting for long b/c my BF only wanted me to glance and make sure it was the right one so i didn''t even try it on.

BUT

my issue is that in looking at thge setting alone, it appeared a lot smaller than i thought it would be. i tried on the same setting with the same approx. size stone in it before it was ordered and it looked huge to me. so does the setting without the stone usually appear less substantial until the diamond is actually set into it??? please say yes....

I think so. I looked at my new setting this week and it looked tiny. The diamond dealer said the stone would look larger once it was in the setting. I think the entire thing looks bigger once the stone is set. Of course I can''t say for two more weeks.

HTH

I think that a setting alone would look less substantial without a stone set into it. If you think about it, there is no center or "focus" to it at all by itself. The whole ring will look completely pulled together once the diamond is set into it.

I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you tried on the setting with the exact same size stone that you are presently setting into it and you liked it then. You know what it inevitably will look like, right? The setting along with the stone will complement eachother.

No more worries !!!!!!!!!

I ordered the Tacori 2502. I''ve waited 7 years for it so I am super excited to say the least!

WOW that''s very very pretty. I haven''t seen it before. Please post pictures when you can.

hey tditty,

i love that tacori setting! i am thinking about getting it in the round version. on their website it says that the ring comes in petite and medium proportions (along with other variations like pave or polished band). could it be possible that you tried on the medium and ordered the petite? does anyone know if the proportion has to do with the size of stone you plan to set, or if is just the "weighty-ness" of the setting itself?

hey tdiddy,

just saw in another thread that you''re in Cincinnati. that''s my hometown. which jeweler did you purchase your Tacori from?

hi all,

i ordered the ring exactly as it was in the setting i tried on. same proportions - i haven''t actually seen the medium or small proportions in person. at the end of the day, it''s probably just my mind playoing tricks on me. the ring was ready yesterday and my BF is getting back in town today. so he''ll pick it up tomorrow. unfortunately i won''t get it this weekend b/c i will be in columbus, ohio running a marathon through monday. more waiting...grrrrr

we bought the setting at roger''s kenwood. originally we worked with ricter and phillips downtown, but they weren''t knocking themselves out to help us and roger''s agreed to set the stone for free (ricter and phillips wanted to charge $250). additionally, since the center stone is a little bigger than what they price the setting for, roger''s only charged an extra $100 but R&P wanted to charge $350. so no brainer. my only complaint with roger''s was the jeweler (not the normal guy we worked with) who was there when we dropped off the stone tried to tell us that our stone had a structural issue....and then proceeded to tell us that he had stones inhouse that were comparable that we might want to consider buying instead. the stone was appraised prior to all of this by an independent appraiser and was found to be a great stone (bought from James Allen). i just felt like he was trying to get us to upgrade and he dissed our stone that we researched for months (which really made me kind of mad). plus he made a few shady remarks about the fact that we bought it online. but the other guy, ashwin, at roger''s has been awesome to deal with. so overall, roger''s has been great to us.

i can''t wait to see it! will post pics when i get it from him.
