Hi PS, does a video comparing single cut to full cut melee exist?

Thanks!

Alright, thank you. The gist I am getting from reading through the threads is that if you are willing to pay the extra cost and deal with the hassle of finding replacement stones if one falls out, then single cut is the way to go, especially if your melee will be < 2mm. Is that accurate?

In my case, I am going to have to pay at least $700 more to get single cut stones. Without any idea how different they will look in person though, this is a tough call. I saw that LuvStr8Tth said it was definitely worth the investment a while back. Anyone else with single cut melee think it was worth the investment? Does anyone have anything bad to say about them?

Thanks!

It depends on what your projects is. From when I have done custom in the past the vendors I have worked with have only recommended single cut when it was either a lower colored diamonds (under K) or an old cut. I have been told that single are more mellow where as full cut are more sparkly.

Do you mind me asking what vendor you are using for this? Is it someone local? I'm just curious as most PS vendors will give their opinions as to what would look best. If it was a PS vendor I would go with what they think vs trying to dictate what you think would look best.

No problem. The stone is an F-color, antique cushion cut (OMB). Steven Kirsch is making the setting. I just sent him an email asking his opinion.

Go with his opinion. Steven has an eye and I would trust his opinion on what would look best. I think most people who try to over analyze and dictate custom work get in over their head. The designer charges a premium for a reason, so I would stick with what he thinks.

Thanks for the input. He said it's up to me and that either will look great. I am going to try swinging by his place and compare them in person. I also see someone just added a video comparison of the two cuts to the thread mentioned earlier.

It seem's like you can't really go wrong. He did mention that most of his work uses full-cuts, and obviously, most of his work comes out looking great. Then there is Victor Canera who seems to use single-cuts more often than not, and his work also comes out looking great.

Thanks again for the help!
