So, I've made the decision to go with the VC emilya halo for my 2 carat RBC. After much soul-searching, I have come to realize I just won't be happy with anything other than that setting made by Victor. I will have to wait a month or two longer to get it, but it's worth it.

I have read thread after thread about the 'frankie' ring. My diamond is about the same size. WHAT is the distinct advantage of telling Victor I want 'frankie's' ring? Is it the halo tilt? Smaller melee? In a nutshell, what are the differences? I don't understand the angles and some of the more technical points of jewelry like you all do. How is it different than any other emilya halo he does?

Thanks! I am really really really looking forward to this ring. It's going to be a beauty.

I think you looking too much into the details of the exact ring. VC will make it look beautiful and proportional to your size diamond. The difference between a traditional Emilya (what you call the Frankie) and a non traditional or alteration is that some people choose to take diamonds off the struts and/ or remove the donut. You can discuss this with VC as it is all personal preference.

Victor has made this ring a gazillion times, for diamonds and colored stones in an enormous range of shapes and sizes. He is the very best judge of the angles/sizes/melee/etc. that will best complement your stone. The only decisions you have to make are the ones SB indicated: melee on the struts and/or donut. Leave the rest to him.

People who post on this forum who end up unhappy with custom jewelry work are sometimes people who have made changes to an existing design without understanding how those changes affect the total design. You want the Emilya: let Victor create one for you.

gotcha. I just hear people specifically ask for "Frankie's ring" so didn't know all the particulars....

Victor is a lovely lovely guy. His work is second to none. We have told you that a number of times and you still need some sort of reassurance, I have no idea why. If you ask for that ring, he will make it for you, specifically for your stone. If you want Frankie's exact ring I offered to sell it to you and you still weren't happy......

I agree, I had victor make my Emylia and I simply asked for the 'Frankie' Emylia.
Apart from checking if I wanted full or single cut melee, I left the rest up to him....and I just adore it. Mine is for a 2ct RB also and so I had good expectation of what the final ring would look like thanks to all of Frankie's amazing photos.

I'm pretty sure if you go back and READ the thread in pre-loved, you AGREED that your setting wouldn't fit my diamond. So, you must just like to argue?

Furthermore, there are people on this forum who ask SPECIFICALLY for "frankie's ring." So I thought there was some tweaking that makes it a little different than the regular Emilya.

Forgive me for not spending YEARS on here researching EVERYTHING and for not being an expert. If you don't like my question, go berate someone else.

I don't need "reassurance." All I asked was a simple question. Don't make it into something more than it is.

Arkieb1- and IF there was nothing special about "frankies ring" why post in regards to the sale of it, that "it is the most perfect halo I think I have ever seen and the ring that inspired a number of them on here?"

It is posts like these that led me to believe it was in some way tweaked to be more attractive than the regular one on Victor's site.

Here are your own quotes speaking SPECIFICALLY about "frankies ring" AND what size diamond it would take. Mine is a 8.23 for reference....

Hi,

I purchased Frankiextah's preloved Emilya Halo last year and then sold the 2.30 carat diamond I had which fit it perfectly. It takes a stone around 8.50mms. It is currently in the US (I am in Australia) at Victor's and I have been debating if I should keep it and put an old cut in it, a new modern cut or a coloured stone. It is a small size 5 (just a whisker under a size 5) unless Victor has already resized it for me, I am a size 4.75. It is the most perfect halo I think I have ever seen and the ring that inspired a number of them on here..... Here are frankie's pics of it;

Actually unfortunately its too small. If anyone else is after a Emilya Halo in a size just under 5 US for a 8.50 mm stone let me know.

This is EXACTLY what makes this place unwelcoming. Berating me for 1. asking a SIMPLE question and 2. Telling me I could have bought your setting which you said YOURSELF would not fit my diamond, but I am just "not happy."

Sox.... That is a gorgeous ring and since everyone says Victor is wonderful, I know your finished ring will be exactly what you hope for.

Actually I am not berating you but I am totally over the whole drama queen act of hey I have to buy this stone because its some swap for a spa and several posts that the effect, then it's like you have to post and say but hey did I get ripped off and how bad you feel - I mean really is that needed, if you purchased the stone already, what is the point? Its like flogging a dead horse.

That was and IS the Halo that actually inspired many other rings. Because Frankie was so fussy about the tint angles the amount of metal showing the size of the melee etc it was and is pure perfection. It was the first of its kind. Since then Victor has created may copies of it that is true.

And for the record I suggested your stone would not fit into this ring. YOU actually never got back to me with the exact measurements so I cannot tell if it would fit or not. You were very unclear about the exact size of the stone, and the last message I got from you was that you were going to get your jeweller friend to make the halo and then low and behold you appear on here once again.

Send the stone to Victor. Get over the drama. He does a perfect job. It will be amazing. Post pics for us to see when you are finished. I will be the first one to tell you how wonderful his work looks.

Drama?   yeah, sorry if I feel loyalty to a friend of mine, I guess that makes me stupid. And I'm sorry if the situation WAS a little more complicated than most. I'm glad you are here to set everything straight, though. Judging by your past posts which more than often contain the phrase "I don't mean to be rude" and "I apologize for my tone," I'll just take your "drama" accusations and file it away with all the stuff I don't give a s**t about.

And God FORBID I change my mind and have someone else make my ring. Because NO one one here is ever indecisive.

I made my point. With YOUR words, nonetheless.

I'm done talking about this. I never in a million years thought that asking some questions about a freaking ring and a diamond would actually make someone angry. Really, it's just not worth it....

I'll make sure and post pics of the ring when I get it. I'm sure you're on pins and needles.....

I am sorry if you are angry. I am not angry. Lets call it a truce. I am sure you ring will be wonderful. I am not on pins and needles to see it, but I sincerely hope that you are happy with it. Victor, as I have said many times does an amazing job.

Aoife, I totally agree with you, esp about making changes to an existing custom design, only to be unhappy... We see this a lot on PS and it makes the old saying, "...if it ain't broke, don't fix it..." very true! Well said. :))

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Hey soxfan! First of all, let me say that I'm super pumped about your VC Emilya! (I shall live vicariously through you and other PS members. ::))

I wouldn't worry about it at all! I have yet to see any of his work that was anything but... well... perfect! Like SB and Aoife have said, just decide about the struts and donut and you're good to go!! Just let him do his 'thang, girl! ;))

Soxofan, I can see why you took offense at the post and would like to encourage you not to let that post deter you from posting further concerns! This forum is entitled RockyTalky for a reason. For the record, I would have asked the same question because I don't think the answer is common knowledge.

+1 ...we are here to learn, after all. :halo:

Thanks everyone :P I am sure it will be perfect. I don't doubt his work one bit...

I think this is a question that VC can answer the best. Just ask him if there is anything unique about Frankie's original that you should know about when considering an Emilya.

I did. It's all set.I posted this here before he got back to me...

Fwiw, I thought your question was very reasonable soxfan - not really understanding the hostility directed towards you - noticing some short fuses lately here on PS - anyway, excited for you on getting a VC setting! He is a master and it will be beautiful.

Hey sox...

Have you sent your stone to VC yet? If so, what is the approximate ETA? (itching for some pics) :naughty:

 Since I decided on the emilya instead of the simple solitaire setting I had first decided on with my jeweler (where we had a credit...) the cost is a wee bit more....so I'm mailing the diamond in August, VC's time frame was quick, so it should be ready By the end of September? :appl:

+1. I've always been grateful for the reassurance I've received here on PS. I'm not always as brave as some making choices with pieces that have such meaning to me, thank goodness for PS's who've helped 'push me over the edge'.

I was nervous getting Victor to make my Emylia as I wasn't able to send my diamond over for him to make the ring and set it himself. I just sent him the GIA report with all it's specs and he made the most perfect and stunning setting which I then had my diamond set into here in Australia (Sydney)....my jeweller here who set it raved about the workmanship and how it was the perfect size for my stone.

I'm willing to bet that you'll be just as thrilled with your Emylia as I am with mine.

I'm so rubbish at taking photos and haven't posted any (I will if you will :wink2: )...but I'll look forward to seeing yours when you've got it done.

I am excited for you Soxfan! The Emilia is a gorgeous design. Have you seen the thread that's currently in SMTB (I think this is an adapted version though). It's gorgeous.

By the way: thanks for posting your question!!

What decicions did you make in regards to your Emilya?

I am getting it! Bought the diamond, sending it to Victor....

It will be beautiful. I think Victor can almost make this ring in his sleep!
