Right now im pi**ed off at death
My freind in NJ has passed away
she didn't keep in good health, and had lived with pain for a long time and i know she had problems with a recent lack of appetite but this has come as a horrible surprise this morning

Oh, no. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I will seriously make a project of this freaking hospital if anything happens to him! This has been a complete f-up from the start. He had the pacemaker in this morning and his care has been not good. Something terribly wrong and they only have one dr on for the entire hospital so the nurse didn't want to call for him until she was absolutely sure it was needed. (heart surgery patient with a numb face, numb body, and severely slurred speech...)

Mine aren’t weather related, as far as I’ve noticed. They just like to pop up randomly and take a crap on my day. I’m sorry to hear you have them too (and, good lord, I hope you don’t have them every time it rains). :oops2:

I remember seeing a thread about migraines, a while back, so I’m pretty sure we’re in good (if occasionally miserable) company here.

Me! Me! I do- when the barometric pressure drops. It blows. Also hormones, and when my brain feels like being a dick. I also get nasal polyps and that pain is even worse. Migraine on steroids.
But I'm more weather reliable than any meteorologist.

Not sure. The Dr didn't say and my mom didn't think to ask. I know the surgery "didn't go as well as hoped" this morning. Not sure what that means as they get little communication.

Oh FFS :(2
Why is everything so hard
why don't the doctor and nurses realize your mom isn't asking enough questions
Can you get a telephone conference with the doctor if you are not allowed to go in ?

Right this minute, they only have the one dr for the entire hospital. Can barely even get a nurse on the phone. They haven't been scheduling anything. Just calls when they can. So disgusted by the whole way this has been run. My mom is not good about this sort of thing in the best of times. She has the mindset that the Drs know best and we don't have to worry about details because they will share what is important. (Which is a whole rant all its own!)

This is me too! I’m a human barometer. I am severely weather sensitive! I have a water barometer which validates me every time.
I hope you feel better today @elle_71125 and @ItsMainelyYou !!

We have a digital weather station and DH likes to quiz me on how many tenths has the pressure changed or what the pressure is right now? I'm not half bad at it.

AUUUGH! Easy router set up via phone app it said. Watched 6 youtube videos on how to do it. No one had a problem. It was sooooooo easy they said. I did it. I had a problem which led to other problems having nothing to do with the router. Hit speed dial for tech aid and miraculously got someone to the house this afternoon. Even he had problems but it's all working now.

This is crazy! They probably mean that they have one doctor “covering” all the inpatients, but that is not the cardiac specialist who places pacers- no reason they can’t page the cardiologist or the person covering the cardiology service.

Seriously call the patient advocate/ombudsman/etc and start pressing for answers this is inappropriate!

If the nurses are waiting to raise a concern about a patient not acting “right” especially post op that’s a huge red flag for the hospital I agree. Potentially really dangerous- and makes you think is the doctor giving them trouble if/when they do page???

They sent him home this morning. I hope it is less crazy than it sounds to me. I'm not voicing concern to my mother as they are stressed enough and I figure he is better being OUT of that place than in. He will be watched carefully and can get to better help than they offered last night.

DH says to never take him there. That is a problem as it is far better than "Death Valley" that is our closest hospital. Barring absolute emergency, our plan is to get to the hospital we used before moving.

I’m so glad he’s home! I understand not wanting to stress them out especially now that’s he’s out of there. It’s so hard to sit by and not be able to help in situations like that.

Karl, take the app't and call frequently to see if they have a cancellation. My SO has diabetes, the endocrinologist referral has been the best thing in years. Maybe ever, he finally has good numbers. Please do this.

Call daily for cancellations and ask them if there is a waiting list you can be put on if appointments open up. Also ask them what time of day is best to call for cancellations and if you can call twice a day if that would be OK. If you explain the critical factor of being seen sooner vs later they might work harder to get you an appointment and certainly have sympathy for your situation. Good luck @Karl_K!

Did your doctor provide any feedback on why you need to see the endocrinologist right away? Are there other endocrinologists covered by your insurance plan that might be further away? Is it serious and urgent enough to consider paying out of pocket with a doctor that isn't covered by your insurance?

Is it worth getting a follow-up with the top cardiologist that is covered by your insurance? Sorry to hear you are going through this, hope your DH gets better soon!

@missy thanks for starting this thread! I just have to drop in to say that Five Guys and teenage sons with nut allergies don't mix!

My DS was out practicing soccer with a couple of friends yesterday and they dropped by to have burgers on the patio of Five Guys. My son knows better than to have fries from Five Guys because they use peanut oil. Well, Five Guys accidentally made an extra 'chocolate' shake that turned out to contain peanut butter.

My son called me right away and luckily I was only 10 minutes away and he had his epi pen. My DH and I had a fun Saturday night in the Peds ER. My son I learned a hard lesson but, thankfully, he is ok :wall:

Here’s something to make you chuckle I hope.

He is feeling great. Went out for a short walk today.

And I managed to get the first two sentences and forgot to finish the reply

Since then, had a scary bit where he went back to the ER with high fever and swollen feet. They checked him out and sent him home. Seems to be doing okay since. Hard to say for sure as his career is over so I know it must be hard. My mother is not much for text, email, FB, or calls so not much information. I figure I will hear if it gets bad again.

Haha. Our running joke. My husband will say to me, “You want Five Guys?”
Me: “ I could do Five Guys,”
Husband: “I bet you could!”

Another since we’re sort of on the topic.
Husband, “I need to go to Dick’ Sporting Goods. Which one should we go to?”
Me: “I like the big Dick’s!” (Since we have two semi close)
Husband: “I bet you do!!”

Carry on..,.
