Hi,
I am interested in the Vatche Royal Crown, but I was trying to find a jeweler locally that had it in stock so i could try it on and really see what it looks like. I am looking for a setting that is elegant but not a thick band, I want something on the thinner side and I was also concerned about how high the setting was. It looks high, and I like the look of that but I am not sure how practical it is. Anyway, on vatche''s site it shows that in MA Longs jewelers carries the setting. I was going to go there to see if I try it on, but I called and they said they don''t carry it any longer. They couldn''t really tell me why they no longer carry it, other than to say that it is a very delicate setting.
First off, I was pretty surprised because Vatche lists a number of longs stores as having it and the woman I spoke to said none of them do - maybe they recently stopped carrying it.
Can anyone who has had this setting tell me whether you consider it "delicate" and having any durability issues? I know they stand behind their product with a warranty, so I can''t imagine why there would be any issue... but I am confused as to why this particular chain no longer sells it. I had always considered longs just a regular mall jewelry chain, so maybe it isn''t a very common setting for their clientele? Also, what are you thoughts on the height of it? I think I want white gold because I like the the shiny look and I know these tend to stay shiny a little longer, but the white gold setting is 600 bucks which seems excessive for white gold.
I also like the x prong, but am paranoid about 4 prongs. this setting looks lower.
Also - do most people agree that you should always get platinum prongs even if you get the setting in white gold. Last night a jeweler told me that platinum prongs can bend - she made it sound like they would be safer in the gold. I had never heard that before!!!
Thanks
