This is the second one I've cut but the first one I've finished. 4.915 carat, 9.72mm Uruguay . It did not come out quite as I wanted but it fell off the dop at this point so I just polished it.
Thanks kitty & davi!
Rockhugger, it is close to what it was supposed to be, just not quite perfect. The intention was a paraboloidialoid as the pavillion and a spheric section as the crown. Having generated the spheric surface I was going to grind it down a milimeter or two to maybe get under the veil that is floating under the crown. The veil only shows up when lit from the side with a penlight so Im not concerned. I also meant to grind the entire pavillion up about half a mm since there is a tiny spot remaining that deviates from the paraboloidialoid surface.
So now I think Im about to post way too many photos, showing the personality of the stone and the zoning. I took a lot of trouble to orient it so the few well colored areas would mix in the face up.
I think it is beautiful! I love the color. I've never been that great at cabbing. I facet, but yeah, I know the huge pain it can be when it falls off the dop prematurely!
