"The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) issued a patent for a "Modified Princess Cut Diamond Having Hearts and Arrows Pattern and Method" to Worldwide Diamond Trademarks Ltd. of Canada. The patent, number 7,992,410, was issued on August 9 and invented by Roni Rydlewicz of Brussels."

New meaning to Princess Cut??

cracks me up....
Would not be hard to beat that patent should it ever try to be enforced.

haha nothing.
Ever tried to rebut a patent.
Even if the USPTO made a mistake (and clearly they do) then the patent owner can still enforce the patent with the law on their side. It makes life difficult for anyone they choose to attack.

To overcome the patent (even if it is wrong) is very costly.

What is even worse is if you believe you have a US patent that covers the new patent - even that is very difficult to prove and incredibly costly. That is called an "Inter Partes Reexamination". I have one running and can attest to the difficulties associated with patents.

Looks nearly identical to the Princess of Hearts and Brain Gavin's Quadex diamonds. Wonder if this will have any implications on them.
